A second-year college student was run over by a train while searching for his earphones on the railway track. The incident occurred near Kodambakkam railway station in Chennai on Friday. The deceased was searching for his Bluetooth earphones which fell on the railway tracks, reported Times Of India.

The 19-year-old student was a second-year BSc student at Govt Arts College, Nandanam. Rajagopal who hailed from Pudhu Sorathur near Chinnasalem in Villupuram district was staying at a govt hostel in Saidapet.

After his classes, he would work part-time with a caterer. On Friday evening, while on his way to work, his Bluetooth earphones fell and landed on the tracks when he got off the train at Kodambakkam station. Rajagopal got down from the train and walked onto the tracks to retrieve his earphones unaware of an approaching train from Tambaram. He was run over and was killed on the spot.

Govt railway police sent him to a hospital, where he was declared brought dead. Further investigations are on.
