What courses are offered in the Delhi campus and What are the key criteria for them?
XLRI Delhi Campus offers a range of programmes catering to aspiring business leaders, entrepreneurs, and working professionals. The flagship offering is the Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management (PGDBM), which admits 180 students annually. The two-year curriculum is designed to provide a strong foundation in business fundamentals. The first year covers core subjects like Marketing, Finance, Human Resources, Operations, Strategy, IT, Economics, and Decision Sciences. In the second year, students can choose to specialize in fields such as Marketing, Finance, Operations, or IT. Admission to the programme requires a graduate degree from a recognized university, a valid XAT score, and successful performance in a Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI).
The Post Graduate Diploma in Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Venture Creation (PGDIEV) is tailored for aspiring entrepreneurs, with an annual intake of 30 students. This programme focuses on building entrepreneurial acumen through exposure to venture capitalists, incubation facilities, and the broader startup ecosystem. Applicants must hold a graduate degree from a recognized university, qualify through XAT, CAT, MAT, or any other government-mandated entrance exam, and submit a compelling Statement of Purpose (SOP). Additionally, candidates must present and defend their business vision during a Personal Interview (PI).
XLRI also offers online certificate programmes in specialised domains like Finance, Human Resources, and Strategy. These programmes typically span 6 to 9 months and are designed for working professionals seeking to enhance their skills. Eligibility requires 2 to 5 years of relevant work experience, depending on the specific programme. Participants benefit from interaction with peers across various industries, fostering valuable networking opportunities.
What are some of the most common traits you look for in candidates during the interview process?
At XLRI, we uphold the philosophy of Magis—the relentless pursuit of excellence. Our goal is to develop socially responsible business leaders with a strong ethical foundation. During the interview process, we seek candidates who demonstrate effective communication skills, including proficiency in verbal expression and active listening. A commitment to excellence is another key trait, as we look for individuals with a strong desire to continuously learn, improve, and innovate. Additionally, sensitivity towards stakeholders is crucial; candidates should exhibit a deep awareness of and responsibility towards diverse stakeholders. Critical thinking ability, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, is equally essential for those aspiring to join our institution.
What advice would you give to applicants preparing for the admission process?
To excel in the selection process, applicants are encouraged to remain authentic. Staying true to oneself and avoiding pretence can significantly impact the impression they leave during interviews. It is also vital for candidates to develop a solid conceptual foundation by thoroughly understanding the fundamental concepts from their undergraduate studies. Group discussions assess not just one’s speaking abilities but also the capacity to actively listen and engage in meaningful discourse—an essential quality for effective managers.
