In today’s digital world, Computer Science is one of the most sought-after courses chosen by lakhs of engineering students every year. Why? Quite simply, because of its excellent global job prospects. Computer Science Engineering (CSE) requires a fundamental understanding of computer programming and networking. The course provides knowledge of the design, implementation and management of information systems, both in terms of hardware and software.

This is a course offered worldwide at leading technical universities, with students able to pursue both undergraduate and postgraduate degrees. If you are considering a career in Computer Science Engineering, we have outlined details about its admission process, fees, entrance exams and top colleges. Take a look:

Admission Process:

Admissions to Computer Science Engineering are based on both Class 12 and entrance exam scores. To be eligible, students must complete Class 12 in the Science stream with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, securing at least 50 to 60 per cent marks. Some colleges may also require Computer Science as a mandatory subject.

While a few institutions admit students based on their Class 12 results, most reputed universities in India, including IITs and NITs, admit students solely through valid entrance exam scores.

Fees:

The average fees for a four-year Computer Science Engineering course in India range from around Rs 2 lakh to Rs 12 lakh, depending on the college and its location. Government colleges generally charge lower fees, whereas top private institutions tend to be significantly more expensive.

Entrance Exams:

To secure admission to a top-tier engineering college in India, students are required to achieve high scores in the leading science and engineering entrance exams. Some of the top CSE entrance exams include JEE Main, JEE Advanced, MHT CET, CUET, TS EAMCET, BITSAT, KCET, KEAM, WBJEE, VITEEE, GATE and COMEDK UGET, among others.
