The Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD) is offering a unique opportunity for women students, scholars, social activists, and teachers from across India to participate in its prestigious Internship Programme. This initiative, aimed at empowering women and children, invites applications from those enrolled in or associated with any academic or non-academic institution, with a special focus on candidates from non-tier-I cities and rural areas.
The MWCD internship offers a platform to engage with the Ministry’s ongoing activities through pilot projects and micro-studies, providing participants with exposure to critical policy analysis and programme implementation. Interns will gain valuable insights into the Ministry’s mandate and will be encouraged to proactively raise issues related to women and children on various platforms in the future.
Ministry of Women And Child Development Internship Details:
The internship is offered in four terms throughout the year: May-June, August-September, November-December, and February-March, each lasting two months. Interns will have the chance to work on projects that aim to enhance the efficiency of government schemes and contribute to policy formulation through empirical analysis, reports, and policy briefs. The programme also seeks to bridge information gaps and raise awareness about the challenges faced by women and children in the country.
Eligibility Criteria
Eligible candidates must be women between the ages of 21 and 40, enrolled or associated with any university or institution. Candidates from Tier-I cities (such as Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Chennai) are not eligible.
Application Process
Prospective interns are required to submit their applications online on the Internship Programme portal- wcd.intern.nic.in. The applications can be submitted two months prior to the start of the internship, between 1st and 10th of the month (e.g. 1st -10th March for May-June, 1st -10th June for August-September etc.). Any candidate once selected for the internship shall not be eligible to apply for any subsequent term.

Stipends, Incentives, and Facilities:
Interns will receive a stipend of Rs. 20,000 per month, along with reimbursement for travel costs to and from the Ministry, as well as for tours undertaken during the internship.
Hostel accommodation will be provided in Delhi, though interns will need to cover mess charges. Additional logistical support, including seating arrangements, internet, and stationery, will be provided. Interns will also receive a certificate upon successful completion of the programme.
