According to the NIRF Rankings 2024, VIT Vellore secured the top spot among private engineering institutions in India.

In India, there are more than 942 private engineering colleges that provide courses in civil, chemical, and electrical engineering. Entrance exams such as JEE Mains, VITEEE, BITSAT, SRMJEE, and MET are the main criteria for admission to these prestigious universities.
To help prospective students choose the best universities for career advancement, the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2024 rankings were released last year. These rankings offer important insights into the performance and quality of education at higher education institutions.
The following is the list of the top 20 private engineering colleges in India according to the NIRF 2024 rankings.

1. VIT University, Tamil Nadu (Rank 11)
One of India’s top privately deemed institutions, VIT provides top-notch academic programs. According to the QS World University Rankings 2025, it is rated between 791 and 800.
