When you are talking to a brand regarding the details of your dear, you must ask them about the budget for what they want you to do. For companies, they will do their best to either get your services for free or for a cheap price. If you don’t ask them about their budget, they will assume that you are ok doing the brand deal for free or in exchange for products. They may also give an unclear amount, affecting negotiations even further.
Some brands may decline to answer the question about their budget. But if they see that you want to give your all if there is a budget, they will return to reach out for a paid brand deal.
#2 Your Profile Does Not Have Sample Posts Related To The Brand’s Product
Some brands may not give you a paid deal if you don’t have posts related to the brand’s product or industry. For example, if you are working with a brand in the travel industry, you need to have content that shows your travels or any reviews you have regarding travel products.
Before preparing for any paid brand deal discussion, review your content to see if it aligns with the brand you will be working with. If you don’t have any, try creating sample posts to show how to introduce the brand or its products. You should also curate your content in categories or hashtags to make it easier for brands to review your posts.
#3 You Don’t Have A Lot Of Media Kits
You should have more than one media kit, as this will allow you to reach out to more brands in other industries. Media kits also give brands an idea of your workflow and other Q&A they want to know before contacting you.
You don’t have to spend much time creating these media kits. You can create a unique template for any type of content and edit it according to what brands want.
#4 You Don’t Have What Brands Are Looking For
To secure that paid brand deal, you must ensure that brands see you have what they seek. Aside from showcasing that you are a trusted personality and can bring in enormous impressions for every content you make, you need to show that you can offer more than that. For example, you can create short, reels, or lengthy videos. If the brands want to see you challenge yourself with your content, you should show you are ready.
#5 You Don’t Fit Their Set Budget
When brands say they cannot do paid brand feels, it doesn’t mean it is already the end of your journey. They may not have the budget right now, so they have not proceeded with a paid brand deal with you. This is especially true for small businesses or new brands, who may have small budgets for advertising and marketing.
If you want to secure these clients, offer affordable packages they can avail of or be open to negotiating with them. Once they see the quality of your work and they love working with you, they will come in again for another deal with a larger budget.
Whether you are a content creator or an influencer, you must proactively score paid brand deals and ensure your social media profile has the right stuff. Review your social media profile and content to see if you can secure the right paid brand deals. If your profile or content needs improvement, make the necessary changes or create samples to show to brands. When brands see these improvements, you deliver the right content and actively collaborate with them, they will reconsider their deal with you and start paying you for your work.
