CBSE Class 12 Computer Science exam 2025 analysis: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) conducted the Class 12 Computer Science board exam on Saturday. According to the initial analysis from teachers and students, the paper was of moderate difficulty, with a well-balanced mix of conceptual, theoretical, and application-based questions. While many students found it easy and manageable, some encountered challenges in programming and Structured Query Language (SQL)-related problems. Overall, the exam was fair and provided a comprehensive assessment of students’ knowledge and understanding.

According to Deepa Sharma, Head, Computer Science Department, Seth Anandram Jaipuria School, Ghaziabad, “The Class 12 Computer Science exam was as per the CBSE blueprint. It was of moderate difficulty level. All the assertion-reasoning and case study-based questions were according to the CBSE sample paper.

“The questions covered various domains of learning like knowledge, understanding and its application. A few questions involved higher-order thinking skills. The average expected score should be 85 per cent. Overall, it was a well-balanced and standard paper, catering to students of all levels.”

Students, on the other hand, found the paper largely simple, with most questions aligned with previous years’ question papers and the CBSE sample paper. Unnati Sighal, a Class 12 student from Seth Anandram Jaipuria School, Ghaziabad, shared her experience: “The exam was easy. All the questions were as per the CBSE sample paper. There were no tricky questions. Everything was in line with what was taught and practiced in class. Programming questions weren’t lengthy as no menu-driven programs were there. In short, the paper was easy and could be completed in two hours with an hour left for revision.”

Difficulty level: Moderate with some challenges

Providing further insight, Pooja Chawla, Post-Graduate Teacher and Facilitator, Computer Science, Orchids The International School, Sonipat, commented on the difficulty level. She said, “The Grade 12 Computer Science paper was very close to expectations and slightly higher in difficulty level than the last three years. The paper followed the expected structure and theory-based questions were direct and easy. The challenge for some students were questions requiring programming skills and SQL-based problem solving. Students who were thorough with the last five years’ question papers were able to solve 90 per cent of the programming and SQL-based questions comfortably.

“Others could only solve 50-60 per cent of the questions comfortably and found the remaining questions difficult. Overall, the paper matches our prediction on what will be easy, what will be challenging, and how students should prepare for the challenging part. Around 40 per cent of students will call this easy, another 35 per cent will call this paper moderate and the remaining 25 per cent will call it difficult, so overall we can call this paper moderate difficulty level.”

Section-wise analysis of the paper

Rakhi Laddha, PGT, Informatics Practices, JAIN International Residential School (JIRS), Bengaluru, said, “The examination paper was relatively easy and can be comfortably attempted by average students. Notably, the paper strictly adhered to the pattern prescribed by the CBSE board.

“The examination paper is structured as follows: Section A comprises direct multiple-choice questions. Sections B, C, D, and E contain straightforward questions that students can easily attempt. If the concepts are well understood, students should be able to solve the paper with ease, without facing any significant difficulties.”

Deepika Aggarwal, PGT, Computer Science, Silverline Prestige School, provided additional insights on the format of the paper. “The Computer Science Board exam conducted on March 29, 2025, followed the latest syllabus with a balanced mix of conceptual and numerical questions. It included 50 per cent competency-based, 30 per cent short/long-answer, and 20 per cent objective questions. The paper was easy to medium. Overall, the exam was well-received for its clarity and practical relevance,” she remarked.

Questions were ‘clear and manageable’

Deepa Shivenkutty, PGT, Computer Science, JAIN International Residential School (JIRS), Bengaluru, also commented on the overall structure. “The paper comprehensively covered the syllabus with clear and concise questions that allowed for effective time management, making it a well-structured and manageable exam,” she said. This further reinforces the idea that while the paper tested a range of skills, it was presented in a way that students could effectively attempt all sections within the given time.

Final verdict

The CBSE Class 12 Computer Science paper was well-balanced, covering all essential topics in a structured manner. Most students found it manageable, with theoretical and competency-based questions being straightforward.
