CBSE releases parenting calendar; family bonding through storytelling, music key features

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) launched a parenting calendar for the academic session 2025-26 at its headquarters in Delhi. The calendar aims to foster communication and collaboration between parents and educators.

The four-section framework, designed with grade-specific activities, aligns with the educational context to enhance student well-being. CBSE has asked schools to implement it as a flexible template suited to their needs.

It is designed for greater parental involvement in education to bridge gaps in learning. The parenting calendar stresses that education is a shared responsibility, urging parents, schools, and students to collaborate, ensuring meaningful student growth.

CBSE 2025: Key Features of the Parenting Calendar

–Nursery & Kindergarten: Family bonding through storytelling, music, puzzles, and DIY science experiments.

–Classes 1-2: Outdoor learning, traditional games, and STEM challenges.

–Classes 3-5: Science experiments, cultural activities, and role-reversal days where children teach parents new skills.

–Classes 6-8: Skill swaps, collaboration sessions, and sustainable project challenges.

–Classes 9-10: Career mentoring, digital detox initiatives, and arts participation.

–Classes 11-12: Career mentorship, financial literacy challenges, and family value exercises.

The CBSE’s parenting calendar promotes parent  child bonding activities that enhance emotional and academic growth. Involving parents in their children’s education strengthens relationships and provides valuable learning insights, mentions the CBSE press release. It also added that schools are encouraged to adopt and customise activities to align with their academic calendars and student needs.

Meanwhile, the Maharashtra school education minister Dada Bhuse said the CBSE curriculum will be implemented in the state till Class 12by 2028. Making a statement in both houses of the state legislature, Bhuse said the new curriculum will come into force for standard one from 2025 and cover all the classes till 12th in 2028.

“In 2026, standards 2, 3, 4 and 6th will be covered, while 2027 will cover standards 5th, 7th, 9th and 11th. In 2028, 8th, 10th and 12th will be covered,” Bhuse said.

The work on producing Class I text books as per the new curriculum is in progress and Balbharti has been entrusted with the task of making necessary changes in the curriculum of the state education board, he added. “The new curriculum will focus on continuous and comprehensive evaluation and not just the final examinations. It will help development of soft skills of the students and the will help to disseminate quality education. The CBSE curriculum will help students to prepare better for competitive examinations,” he said.
