The Bihar Police arrested Sanjeev Mukhiya, the alleged NEET paper leak kingpin, in Patna. Mukhiya was involved in multiple exam scams.

The Economic Offenses Unit (EOU) of the Bihar Police has arrested Sanjeev Mukhiya, the alleged kingpin of the NEET paper leak case, in a major breakthrough late Thursday night. Mukhiya, a resident of Nagarnausa in Nalanda district, was on the run and had a reward of Rs 3 lakh on his head, announced recently by Patna Police.

According to officials, the Special Task Force (STF) tracked and nabbed Mukhiya in the capital city of Patna. Along with him, police had declared rewards for two other wanted individuals. Mukhiya was reportedly absconding in connection with four separate cases, all related to examination fraud and cheating.

Sanjeev Mukhiya’s AKA Paper Leak Mafia

This is not the first time Sanjeev Mukhiya’s name has surfaced in a major exam scam. Known as a paper leak mafia, Sanjeev Mukhiya has a long history of involvement in exam scams.

He was also linked to the 2016 constable recruitment paper leak and had served jail time in the BPSC teacher recruitment scam. Mukhiya previously worked as a technical assistant at Nursarai Horticulture College. His son, Dr Shivkumar, an MBBS graduate from PMCH, is also currently in jail.

In the ongoing NEET investigation, it was revealed that he allegedly leaked the question paper after taking around Rs 40 lakh from multiple students. Not only was the paper leaked from an exam centre in Hazaribagh, but the students were also made to memorize the answers at a location in Patna before the exam.

Several agencies, including the Bihar Police, had been on Mukhiya’s trail for months. There were even reports of him hiding in Nepal. His arrest marks a significant step forward in cracking down on the paper leak racket that has plagued competitive exams in the country.
