After passing Class 12 with Maths and Science, many students dream of clearing the JEE (Joint Entrance Examination) to get into the nation’s top engineering colleges. However, as the exam is highly competitive and seats in each stream are limited, some aspirants’ dreams may not materialise. Nevertheless, students with a Maths and Science background and knowledge from JEE or other engineering exam preparations have opportunities to build careers in many fields. These sectors not only offer attractive salaries but also provide challenging and exciting careers.
Here are a few career choices to consider:
Data Science
Education expert Sita Ram explained that the demand for data scientists has increased rapidly in recent years. If you have an understanding of data trends and the ability to explain them in simple terms, you can become a data scientist. The salary of a data scientist is comparable to that of engineers. To pursue this career, students can undertake a BSc or BCA in Data Science, or a BSc in Statistics. Currently, the demand for data scientists is steadily growing.
Architect
Experts stated that architecture is a field that enhances creativity and analytical skills. It is considered a strong career option for students preparing for engineering, as maths is widely used from design to project development. Students can pursue a Bachelor of Architecture to enter this field.
Research Scientist
The demand for research scientists is on the rise, with companies actively recruiting them. Research scientists conduct experiments, analyse data, and draw conclusions, providing new insights to companies or institutions. To become a research scientist, students can complete a BSc with Physics, Chemistry, and Maths, and then pursue further research work.
Aviation Field
Education expert Sita Ram also highlighted that there are plenty of opportunities for JEE aspirants in the aviation industry. It is a sector that offers diverse job roles. Students have two main options: they can either train to become pilots through a pilot training programme or explore other career options after completing a BBA and further studies in aviation. Career opportunities in this field can be chosen according to personal interests.
Forensic Science
Expert also noted that there are ample opportunities in forensic science. This discipline focuses on legal decision-making using scientific methods and principles. Students can advance in this field by pursuing a BSc in Forensic Science, Forensic Biology, or Forensic Pathology.
