The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE), including both JEE Main and JEE Advanced, is widely regarded as one of the most difficult exams, especially for engineering students in India. The JEE Main is the preliminary screening exam, while the JEE Advanced is the final level determining admission to the prestigious Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). Every year, we hear several inspiring stories of students about how they prepared for this examination. Today, we bring you the story of Rajit Gupta, a student who scored 100 percentile in the JEE Main January session. Not just this, he was so confident that he did not check the answer key even once. Most importantly, his achievement is due to a balanced approach and great conceptual clarity, which allowed him to pass the exam.
Sharing his key to success, Rajit earlier told India Today, Happiness is my key to success. I remain happy in every situation.” He added, “I’ve never followed a strict study schedule since it adds extra stress. So I used to study only when I felt like it, but whenever I did, I used to study well.”
How did you prepare for JEE Main?
“My key objective was that I should not repeat the mistakes because only when mistakes are corrected, the foundation of your subject becomes strong,” said Rajit.
He also shared that after the JEE Main exam, his father asked him to cross-check the answer key to get an idea of whether he would pass the exam or not. Replying to his father, Rajit said, “Papa, don’t worry, I will qualify for the JEE Advanced,” which highlighted his confidence.
Rajit joined a coaching centre in Kota to prepare for the JEE Main entrance examination. Notably, four out of five candidates from Rajasthan who scored 100 percentile in the Main examination have studied in the same institute.
Fourteen applicants from around the country received perfect scores in JEE-Main 2025; the majority of them were from Rajasthan, as per the National Testing Agency (NTA).
Meanwhile, the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, conducted the JEE Advanced exam on May 18 and the results will be declared on June 2.
