The Uttarakhand Madarsa Board has made a significant decision to include ‘Operation Sindoor’ in the syllabus of madrasas across the state. This new topic will be taught up to the Alia (Intermediate) level classes. Mufti Shamoon Qasmi, President of the Uttarakhand Madrasa Board, informed after meeting Defence Minister Rajnath Singh that ‘Operation Sindoor’ will be included in the madrasa syllabus. Uttarakhand has 451 madrasas with around 50,000 students.

Qasmi, along with educators and intellectuals, met the Defence Minister in New Delhi and congratulated him on the success of Operation Sindoor. He praised the bravery of the armed forces and emphasised that Uttarakhand is the land of heroes. He said the people of the country have appreciated the army’s courage and that madrasa students will also be taught about this valour.

The new syllabus will feature a chapter on Operation Sindoor, and a curriculum committee meeting will be held soon to finalise it.

Notably, Operation Sindoor was a significant Indian military operation launched on May 7, 2025, in response to a terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, that resulted in the deaths of 26 tourists. The operation targeted nine terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK), aiming to dismantle the infrastructure of groups such as Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), and Hizbul Mujahideen.

Additionally, multiple camps in Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK) were hit, such as Shawai Nallah and Syedna Bilal camps in Muzaffarabad, as well as the Gulpur, Barnala, and Abbas terrorist camps located in Kotli and Bhimber.
