With schools across the state set to reopen on June 2, the distribution of textbooks to all government and government-aided schools in Tamil Nadu is in full swing

The Tamil Nadu Textbook and Educational Services Corporation has taken extensive steps to delight students on the very first day of the new academic year by providing them with their new grade books on the first day itself.

With schools across the state set to reopen on June 2, the distribution of textbooks to all government and government-aided schools in Tamil Nadu is in full swing. The Corporation has confirmed that 99% of the required books for the 2025–26 academic year have already been printed and are ready for dispatch.

Operating under the School Education Department, the Corporation prints and distributes textbooks free of cost to students in government and government-aided schools. This year, a total of 2.72 crore lakh 53 thousand books were printed for these students. Out of this, over 2.69 crore books, about 99%, have already been delivered to district-level centres, while the remaining books are currently being printed.

Additionally, 1.46 crore books were printed for private school students at a concessional rate, of which over 1.46 crore books have already been dispatched for delivery.

Overall, printing orders were placed for 4.19 crore books for the upcoming academic year. So far, 4.16 crore books have been printed and are ready for distribution. The Corporation stated that the remaining 1% of books will also be printed and sent out within the next couple of days.

This swift and organised effort will ensure that all students receive their new textbooks on the first day of school after the summer holidays, enabling a smooth and timely start to the new academic year.
