A major announcement has come for lakhs of candidates dreaming of becoming teachers in Bihar. Bihar Education Minister Sunil Kumar has directed that the Teacher Recruitment Examination Phase 4 (TRE 4) must be conducted before August 10, 2025. This exam will be organised by the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC).

Earlier, following the completion of TRE 3, the number of vacant posts will be finalised by June 30, after which the official date for the TRE 4 exam will be announced. The Education Minister also stated that the vacancies left unfilled in TRE 3 will be included in TRE 4, providing more opportunities for candidates. More than 80,000 posts will be filled through TRE 4.

TRE 4 Exam Details

The TRE 4 exam will be held offline with an OMR-based question paper. The exam will carry a total of 150 marks which includes 50 marks from general studies and 100 marks from the relevant subject. There will be no negative marking. Candidates are advised to regularly check the official BPSC website for updates, apply for TRE 4, and start their preparations. This is a golden opportunity for all those aspiring to become teachers in Bihar.

TRE 3 Results and Vacancies

In the recently conducted TRE 3 examination, vacancies for a total of 87,774 posts were announced, out of which 66,603 candidates were successful. However, 21,397 posts remain vacant and will be included in TRE 4. Earlier, vacancies were also released for 1.70 lakh and 70,000 posts in TRE 1 and TRE 2 respectively, with appointments completed for most of those posts. In the last two years, a total of 2.81 lakh posts were announced, with 2.55 lakh candidates selected so far.

Vacancies To Be Filled In TRE 4

TRE 4 will fill over 80,000 posts, including the 21,397 vacant posts from TRE 3. This includes 52,026 primary teacher posts, 36,645 posts for secondary teachers (Classes 1–5), 30,970 posts for secondary teachers (Classes 6–8), and 40,554 posts for higher secondary teachers (Classes 9–12). The examination and recruitment process will be conducted by BPSC.

Appointment letters for the 66,603 candidates selected under TRE 3 will be issued before August 10, 2025. This recruitment drive will increase the number of teachers in approximately 75,000 schools across Bihar, significantly improving the teacher-student ratio.
