BIMTECH Students Win Global Sustainability Award at United Nations Headquarters – ET Government

GREATER NOIDA: In a landmark achievement, a student team from the Birla Institute of Management Technology (BIMTECH) has been declared the Global Winner of the prestigious PRME Global Students Sustainability Awards 2025, held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.

The winning team, “BIMTECH – UFE”, comprised students Neer Soni, Arunojya Vatsa, and Deval Kambaliya, under the mentorship of Dr. Reeti Kulshrestha, Faculty of Sustainability and Responsible Business at BIMTECH. Their win marks a significant recognition of the institute’s commitment to responsible management education and sustainability.

Organized by the United Nations-supported Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME) initiative, the annual awards celebrate student-led organisations that align with the Seven Principles for Responsible Management Education and contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The BIMTECH team received a cash prize of USD 2,000, sponsored by Marketplace Simulations, to support their future sustainability initiatives.

“This is an extremely proud moment for BIMTECH,” said Dr. Prabina Rajib, Director of the Institute. “This achievement reflects that sustainability for us is not merely a subject—it’s a way of life. Our students and faculty are setting an inspiring example at the global level.”

The BIMTECH-UFE team underwent a rigorous six-month evaluation process, which included a sustainability enterprise simulation round conducted by Marketplace Simulations. Competing against teams from across the globe, they advanced from being regional winners for South and Central Asia to ranking among the top five globally, then the top three, before ultimately being selected as the global champions.

This accomplishment reinforces BIMTECH’s position as a leading AACSB-accredited business school that integrates sustainability into its core values. Inspired by the vision of its founders, Late Basant Kumar Birla and Sarala Birla, the institute offers specialized programs in areas such as International Business, Retail Management, and Insurance Business Management, and maintains a strong global alumni network of over 8,000 professionals.
