INDORE: Hundreds of students are in a fix as the two-list formula implemented at mains stage of State Service Examination -2020 put their future at stake after they featured in provisional list.
The formula devised to end the stalemate was implemented at prelims stage in SSE-2019 and 2021 by Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission, which went ahead with its implementation at second stage (mains) in SSE-2020.
The Commission on February 5 declared 963 candidates as qualified for interview cumulatively in two lists. Of those 963, 698 are in the main list and 295 are in the provisional list, showed the official communique.
Interestingly, of those 295 many scored better marks in prelims stage but couldn’t manage high marks in mains resulting in their names featuring into provisional list, whose final selection would depend on Other Backward Category reservation verdict.
A student said, “The commission put the futures of hundreds of students at stake. The formula for provisional shall be implemented at prelims stage i.e. qualifying in nature not at mains stage whose marks are included in merit of final selection.”
The officials however are of different view and stated to follow the state government’s direction. MPPSC OSD R Panchbhai told TOI, “The commission has declared results of SSE-2020 mains and other results based on the direction of General Administration Department’s order on September 29 last year under two list formulas.”
“All results declared after September 29 are under this new formula. The commission had followed the direction of the state government to proceed ahead in examination”, added Panchbhai.
In the September 29 formula, the posts are divided into two parts- main (87%) and provisional (13%). In the provisional list, candidates from Unreserved category and Other backward category feature against 13% posts. The selection of those in the provisional list would remain on hold till final judgement in the OBC reservation issue.
In case 27% OBC reservation is allowed, 13% posts list for UR category would be discarded and OBC students would be selected in examination. In vice versa, the opposite would happen.
