Guwahati: Assam police have detained 22 persons in connection to the reported class X state board examination question paper leak.
The general science paper that was scheduled on Monday was cancelled the previous night after a handwritten question paper went viral in social media.
“Reference paper leakage case of General Science (C3) of HSLC examination being conducted by Board of Secondary Education, Assam – 22 persons have been detained at/from Guwahati, North Lakhimpur, Dhemaji, Sadiya, Dibrugarh and Tinsukia,” Assam DGP GP Singh tweeted on Tuesday morning.
“Further lawful action as mandated by law is being taken against them. We remain committed to unearthing the network of people involved in the leakage of the question paper and the conspirators,” Singh added.
Meanwhile, education minister Ranoj Pegu said the investigation is in progress but he did not squarely blame the Board of Secondary Education Assam for the goof-up. “We may have to wait for some time for the outcome of the investigation,” he said.
Assam CID on Monday grilled two senior officials of the board, along with a few teachers and employees of an examination centre in the city while initiating the probe.
Meanwhile the authorities of the schools, whose students have been detained, assured full cooperation in the investigation.
