A Review Of: Bocconcino Mayfair | The Assistant Room

The Assistant Room

If you’re looking for a high-end lunch spot for your Exec in Mayfair with top quality authentic Italian cuisine, look no further than Bocconcino, the beautiful multi-layered Italian restaurant on Berkeley Street. From the moment you step inside, you’re met with stunning interiors, and an ambiance that exudes luxury and sophistication.

We enjoyed a delicious three course lunch on the vibrant lower ground floor which on this Tuesday afternoon was proven to be the perfect Mayfair spot for business lunches. The capacity of the floor was full but our table for two still felt intimate meaning we could enjoy private conversations without worrying about other diners overhearing. On Friday evenings and the weekends, the atmosphere on the lower ground floor is taken up a notch and is home to live music and DJ nights on Thursday and Friday evenings and bottomless weekend brunches.

A more traditional Italian dining space can be found on the ground floor, inspired by trattorias found throughout Italy it is the perfect setting for something a little more private or romantic. This area can also be hired exclusively, or for semi-private functions.

The menu is a culinary journey featuring a wide range of classic Italian dishes, each just as tempting as the next and bursting with flavour, made using only the freshest ingredients and curated by Napoli born Head Chef Marco Corsica. The menu showcases Corsica’s extensive professional experience which includes many years working under the wing of three-star Michelin Chef Marco Pierre White and is evident in the menu, with attention paid to every detail.

The pasta dishes are particularly noteworthy, with the truffle tagliatelle and homemade prawn and seabass ravioli being the standout options. For something lighter, the salads are equally impressive with something to suit everyone’s appetite.

I enjoyed the Andria Burrata with juicy and sweet baby plum tomatoes and pesto followed by my personal showstopper dish, the roasted Octopus. The octopus was cooked to perfection, with a crispy exterior and tender, flavourful flesh. This is a dish that is very easily done wrong but was truly unforgettable. The sides were just as tasty, with options like truffle fries (not for the faint hearted) and grilled vegetables providing the perfect accompaniment to any of the main courses.

The wine list is extensive, with a variety of options to suit all tastes and budgets, curated with the aim of offering a variety of options from all regions of Italy with a focus on Barolo, Barbaresco, Brunello, Amarone and Super Tuscan wines. The rest of the world is also represented, with special attention to French selection.

The service was attentive and friendly with staff on hand to make recommendations and ensure that your dining experience is a memorable one.

Our final verdict, Bocconcino seems too good to be true! Stunning interiors and cosy corners, delicious food, incredible service, weekend brunches and live music along with an impressive wine list to rival any Italian restaurant in London, this really could be the go-to Mayfair venue for any occasion.
