A Review Of: Carey’s Manor | The Assistant Room

The Assistant Room

In my opinion, there is no better time to visit the New Forest than in the Autumn months, with almost every tree displaying multicoloured leaves it is nothing short of spectacular. When imagining the perfect place to stay in such a peaceful, enchanting place, everything that Carey’s Manor Hotel & SenSpa has to offer should be on your checklist. Tucked away in the village of Brockenhurst nestled between the New Forest and the Solent you will find Carey’s Manor & SenSpa.  Set within a beautiful 18th century manor house it oozes traditional British charm, with 77 timeless bedrooms and suites throughout the grounds each decorated with calmness and tranquillity in mind. On a sunny Autumn Day, I was lucky enough to be checking in for the night.

Rooms

Whether you are looking for somewhere to rest your head after a long day hiking in the New Forest or for somewhere to totally switch off and be pampered there is a room here for everyone. The Manor Rooms offer lavish four poster beds, classic wood panelling and timeless style whilst the Garden Rooms offer a more contemporary feel, each with a patio or balcony offering views of the elegant manicured gardens. All rooms provide a comfortable space to escape reality with spacious living areas, complimentary Wi-Fi, tea and coffee, bath robes and slippers, smart TV’s and White Company toiletries as standard.

SenSpa

Carey’s Manor is also home to the award winning SenSpa, a beautifully high-end Thai spa focusing on holistic wellness and inspired by ancient Eastern rituals. At 3pm sharp we were eagerly waiting to be checked in for our two-hour slot in the hydrotherapy facilities and we were not disappointed. With over ten different areas of the spa to explore we were able to enter a total sensory experience embracing hot and cold in the hydrotherapy pool, crystal steam room, thermal rooms, the ice room, Rhassoul and relaxation rooms. You can upgrade to use the SenSpa during your stay from £39pp for a two-hour slot as well as packaged Spa Days available for non-residents. Not forgetting the hotels regular wellness facilities including a fully equipped gym, 14-metre swimming pool and jacuzzi.

Dining

With three restaurants at Carey’s Manor, you will not be short of dining options on site. We were booked in for dinner at Cambium, a modern British brasserie offering an intimate dining experience. Head Chef Alistair Craig has created a menu using the best seasonal ingredients including produce from the Manor’s own gardens. To start we enjoyed a delicious creation of Sweetcorn bavarois, Brown Crab and Granny Smith salad and Bath blue cheese souffle with pickled apple and hollandaise sauce followed by the showstopping offering of Morrocan spiced lamb shoulder, roast red onion, mint sauce, hummus, new potatoes, Roast crown prince pumpkin, salsa verde to share for main. The portions were generous yet delicate and the flavours of each dish were sensational, with the crab salad being my hands down favourite. We manged to save room for dessert and indulged in the Chocolate and stem ginger fondant with kalamansi sorbet and Crème caramel, panettone with poached dried fruits, both were sensational. The food at Cambium was fantastic along with the attentive and friendly wait staff we had a wonderful evening.

In addition, Carey’s Manor’s two other dining options are Le Blaireau, a quirky French Bistro with alfresco dining spaces open from breakfast through to dinner whilst The Zen Garden specialise in authentic Thai cuisine and is situated inside SenSpa, perfect for light breakfasts and lunches in-between spa treatments or dinner in a magical setting.

Events

From corporate away days to wellness retreats, weddings and Christmas parties Carey’s Manor is a fine destination to hold any team building activity in the South. With four meeting spaces that can accommodate up to 150 guests, a variety of activities and workshops can be planned by the hotel team along with various on-site catering options, all-inclusive packages, spa treatments, wine tastings and archery Carey’s manor can offer a unique and inspiring setting to escape corporate life and get the creative juices flowing!

Our final verdict? If you’re looking for somewhere for your Exec to truly switch off from reality and immerse themselves into country life surrounded by stunning nature walks and the option to be totally pampered, twinned with fantastic service from an incredibly friendly and attentive team, look no further than Carey’s Manor.
