Most of the Indian students who take science in 11th grade have a dream to get into the coveted institutes of the country to pursue engineering. Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) is considered one of the most prestigious institutes in the country. It has several branches in different cities. People from all over the country come to these colleges to fulfil their dreams. In order to get admission into an IIT, students need to appear for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE). JEE is conducted in two parts, Mains and Advanced. Those who are able to clear the main examinations, followed by the advanced, they get to be a part of the IITs. Let’s take a look at the marks and rank needed in JEE Advanced to secure a place in an IIT.

According to reports, admission to graduate-level engineering courses at IIT depends on the marks and rank obtained in JEE Advanced. Admission to a Masters-level course like MTech depends on the GATE scores. As per reports, every year, about 10 lakh students appear for the JEE Main examination. After the JEE Advanced, only 16,000 candidates get admission to IIT. It is believed that students need to have a rank of at least 6,000 in order to get admission to the prestigious IITs.

It has also been found that those who are able to score 40 percent in JEE Advanced get up to 6,000 ranks. The total score varies every year, but getting a rank under 6,000 can be considered a safe zone. Statistics have also shown that a student scoring more than 40 percent has the possibility of getting such a rank, that they can get admission in a good branch of IIT.

The cutoff for IIT this year will also be released on the basis of the opening and closing ranks of JEE Advanced 2024. The JEE Advanced cutoff for IITs will be available on the JoSAA website. Candidates who will be appearing for the JEE Advanced exam in 2024 will have to score equal to the prescribed cutoff rank to get admission to their preferred institutes. There are different factors that determine the cutoffs like the availability of seats, previous year’s cutoff trends, total number of applicants, and the difficulty level of the exam.
