Reports indicate that schools that rely upon private buses and vans for transport have decided to give students a day off on September 11 due to the strike
The Federation of Karnataka State Private Transport Associations in Bengaluru has called for a strike or “Bengaluru Bandh” today, September 11, which would result in a disruption of operations for all private commercial vehicles operating in Karnataka’s capital city. Private transportation services are anticipated to be disrupted by this strike, which is likely to cause inconvenience for a wide range of commuters, including those going to work, school, and major transit hubs like railway stations and airports. The strike in Bengaluru today will have an impact on an array of private transport services, including auto-rickshaws, cab aggregators and school buses.
Several reports indicate that schools have decided to give students the day off on September 11 as a result of the strike. There has been no official confirmation of widespread school closures, therefore it’s critical to remember that these decisions have been taken independently by individual schools. In a statement to MoneyControl, the Associated Managements of English Medium Schools acknowledged that certain schools that rely upon private school buses and vans as a form of student transport had declared a holiday for today. As a result, it is highly recommended that parents and children get in touch with their individual schools to get more details about the holiday.
In order to congregate in Freedom Park this afternoon, the Federation has planned a number of private vehicle processions from various entry and exit points of Bengaluru.
It is projected that the majority of private transport services will stay inactive today. Private transportation players have requested a bandh in Bengaluru to express their objection to the Shakti scheme, one of the five promises made by the government of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. In accordance with the Shakti scheme, women who reside in Karnataka are permitted to ride for free on non-premium buses throughout the state for an additional few months without the usage of smart cards. The Federation’s discontent with the State transport department’s failure to fulfil their 28 requests by the deadline of August 31 is another reason for the Bengaluru Bandh.
Emergency service vehicles which include ambulances, pharmaceutical delivery services, and vital goods-carrying trucks would keep running despite the Bengaluru Bandh. All modes of public transport, including BMTC buses and metro trains, will run as usual all through the strike.
