Bihar B.Ed Primary Teachers Appointment Canceled: The Patna High Court has ruled that individuals holding B.Ed degrees are not eligible for class 1st to 5th teaching jobs in Bihar. Only those with a Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) will be eligible for primary school teaching roles.
The division bench of Chief Justice K. Vinod Chandran invalidated the National Council for Teachers Education’s (NCTE) 2018 notification, which made the B.Ed compulsory for primary school teachers jobs. In its verdict, the bench made it clear that only D.EI.Ed. holders can be appointed as primary school teachers.
This decision will affect more than 22 thousand teachers of classes 1 to 5 who were appointed during the 6th phase of the recruitment process.
The apex court said that the appointment should be based on the skill sets required for the teachers in primary and higher classes. It said that different pedagogical approach is required in the initial years of the students.
