Bihar Board Results: Nearly 96,000 students from CBSE, state boards switched to BSEB; here’s why

In 2022, 1,13,210 students of other boards had enrolled in Class 11 of Bihar Board, including 95,204 students from CBSE. Since 2018, over 6.9 lakh students from other boards have enrolled in Bihar Board’s Class 11 through the Online Facilitation System for Students (OFSS). The online enrollment system was started in 2018 to facilitate easy admissions and maintain student data.

The board, while announcing the Class 12 inter result on March 25, also pointed out multiple reasons that have been the motivating factors for students to make the switch. These are:

Timely exams and results

BSEB conducts Class 10 matric and Class 12 intermediate annual examinations in time and is the first in the country to release the board exam results. This gives students ample time to prepare for competitive exams, including JEE Main and NEET UG.

Competitive exam pattern

The board curriculum is aligned with the subject and question paper pattern with competitive exams, which makes it easier for students to prepare well.

From CBSE, 47,421 students transferred to BSEB in 2018, 69,460 in 2019, 87,086 in 2020, 1,00,438 in 2021 and 95,204 in 2022.

It is not just CBSE, but students from other boards too have switched the Bihar Board in Class 11 or 12. As per the data, 12,123 students from CISCE and other state boards shifted to Bihar for Inter exams in 2018. The number drastically increased to 16537 in 2019 and 20267 in 2020.

The statement further added that Bihar Board’s efforts have been recognised nationally, with the Chairman receiving the Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration in 2022 for ‘Multiple Innovations and Extensive Reforms in Examination Systems and Processes in Bihar School Examination Board’.
