The document verification process for the recruitment of teacher posts started on September 5. According to the orders issued, the Bihar government has asked the District Magistrates to not include the employees and teachers from the state education department in the verification process.
Amir Subhani, the Chief Secretary announced the change through a letter aimed towards all the DMs in the state, The letter said, “It has come to notice that employees of the Education department and government school teachers are being engaged in document verification work of candidates who appeared for the School Teacher Recruitment Examination (2023). They (education department employees) are also being engaged in the scanning of the OMR sheets by the district administration at different centres. This practice needs to be immediately stopped by the district administration and employees of the education department should not be engaged in these works.”
Subhani stated further to the DMs that employees from other departments can engage in the verification process, but no one from the education department should be involved. The state education department has also issued a letter stating the same concerns.
The Chief Secretary said that the teachers “should be kept away from such activities” to improve the academic atmosphere in the government schools. A convener of a teachers association, Raju Singh told PTI that they have been demanding the government to stop engaging teachers in non-teachers activities, he added that many teachers have given their resignations because of it.
The examination was conducted by BPSC for the post of school teacher, the vacancies available were 1,70,461. The dates of the exams were from August 24 to August 26. The document verification process started on September 5 and is scheduled to go till September 12.
