BPSC Students Protest: The matter of the 70th preliminary examination of the Bihar Public Service Commission has reached the Supreme Court. A petition has been filed in the Supreme Court demanding cancellation of the examination. The petition states that there has been rigging in the 70th examination and hence it should be cancelled and conducted again.
Along with this, the petition also demands action against the SP and DM for using force against the protesting students. It has been said that accountability should be fixed for police action.
The Supreme Court Registry has assured to list this petition before the appropriate bench for hearing on Tuesday, January 7.
On the other hand, the fast unto death of Jan Suraj Party founder Prashant Kishor has entered the fourth day. He too is demanding cancellation of the examination. He has also appealed to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to support the students’ demands.
On Thursday, Pappu Yadav announced a statewide blockade of national highways, state highways, and rail services. The Chhatra Yuva Shakti organisation initiated the call for the blockade in support of BPSC candidates, which Pappu Yadav endorsed. He urged all student organisations to take to the streets and join the protest. Protesters gathered at the Sachiwalay Halt Railway Station and sat on the tracks briefly, causing delays in train movements, an official said.
“Protesters stopped the Buxar-Fatuha passenger train at Sachiwalay Halt Station around 9 am on Friday. The train was delayed for 20 minutes before it resumed its journey,” said East Central Railway Chief Public Relations Officer Saraswati Chandra to PTI.
The commission has only cancelled the examination held at Bapu Examination Complex and conducted it again. The examination was held on January 4, 2025, at about 22 examination centres in Patna.
