The story is based on the idea that half-fed knowledge is always dangerous and misunderstanding between people belonging to various cultural origins can be the cause for unforeseen conflict and confusion.
Summary of The Book That Saved The Earth
The play’s plot takes place in the 20th century. The play’s characters are all made-up, and they all have strange names like Noodle, Captain Omega, Lieutenant Iota, Sargent Oop, Chief Think Tank, and so on. The think tanks choose to travel to Earth with his squad because they believe he is the most intellectual Martian. He wants to be recognized for his huge head, which he believes makes him the most intelligent person. They are interested in learning about the daily lives of those they refer to as “earthlings.” They were all there in a book-filled library in the following scenario. But none of them could comprehend the location.
The powerful Think-Tank then tries to demonstrate his intelligence by telling his team that it’s only a sandwich. Since humans consume a lot of food, they must have kept it here. Subsequently, Sergeant Oop, a crew member, even consumes a book’s corner to validate Think-Tank’s viewpoints. Nevertheless, he did not enjoy the flavor, so they decided that this might not be food. After a while, Noodle tells Think-Tank that perhaps it’s utilized for auditory communication. After a while, Noodle recommends to Think-Tank once more that perhaps it’s for eye communication. Every crew member began to open and peruse the book. It was a name-based rhyme book, Mother.
Noodle, seeing this, asks the Think-Tank if they should all take the vitamin pills that the chemical department has provided them to boost intellect before reading the sandwiches. Oop began reading the nursery rhyme book, and as they did, they began to take the rhymes literally and were troubled. After gathering some knowledge on earthlings, the Think Tank called his squad of Martians and told them to put off the invasion plan. After the Oop read the poem “Humpty Dumpty,” everyone saw the image of Humpty, who bore a striking resemblance to Think Tank. The Think Tank deduced that the earthlings had discovered him and were about to murder him. He therefore instructed his group to depart right away and thus a dusted book of rhymes saved us from the Martian invasion.
