CBSE Issues Affiliation Bye-Laws 2025, Know How Institutes Can Establish Branch Schools – News18

According to the CBSE Affiliation Bye Laws, schools can apply for establishing of branch schools from the academic session 2026-27 on SARAS 6.0 Portal.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced new Affiliation Bye-Laws (Branch School) 2025. These bye-laws allow existing affiliated schools (Main schools) to establish Branch schools using the same name and affiliation number.

Such schools are permitted to offer classes from Bal Vatika to Class 5, while the Main school will handle classes 6 to 12. The schools can apply for establishing branch schools w.e.f the academic session 2026-27 on SARAS 6.0 Portal, the board said in an official notice.

“The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued the Affiliation Bye-Laws (Branch School) 2025 according to which a Main school that is affiliated with the board and is located in areas or cities where land norms are applicable on the land requirements for setting schools under Chapter 3 of Affiliation Bye Law 2018 of the board may establish a Branch school under the same name and affiliation number and by the school management but with separate set of resources in terms of Physical and Academic infrastructure, teaching and supporting staff etc as per provisions laid down in Affiliation Bye-Laws (Branch School) 2025 for running classes from Bal Vatika to Class 5. The main school shall run from classes 6 to 12,” states the official notice.

What Is A Main School And A Branch School?

Main school means the school that is already affiliated with the Board and is establishing the Branch school under the same affiliation number, name, and by the same school management but with a separate set of resources in terms of physical and academic infrastructure, teaching, supporting staff, etc.

Branch School means a branch of the main school under the same affiliation number, name, and by the same school management but with a separate set of resources in terms of Physical and Academic Infrastructure, Teaching and Supporting Staff, etc.
