Romil Dwivedi, a native of Rewa district in Madhya Pradesh, has brought immense pride to his hometown by securing the 27th rank in the UPSC Civil Services Examination 2024. What makes his achievement even more remarkable is that he accomplished it without the aid of formal coaching, demonstrating that perseverance and self-belief can triumph over conventional methods.
From IRS To IAS: A Goal Realised
Romil had previously cracked the UPSC examination in 2022, securing the 364th rank and subsequently joining the Indian Railway Management Services (IRMS). While he began his professional journey, his ultimate aspiration was to serve as an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer.
Determined to fulfil that dream, he attempted the exam once more and successfully secured a position in the top 30. He is currently undergoing training in Jaipur.
Self-Discipline Over Coaching
Romil’s father, KK Dwivedi, Joint Commissioner in the Cooperative Department in Bhopal, shared that his son had consistently excelled in academics from a young age. Despite being encouraged to pursue coaching, Romil chose to rely on self-study.
Balancing his preparation alongside his professional responsibilities at a bank and in consultancy, he only took leave during the examination period. His journey stands as a testament to self-discipline and independent learning.
Family As A Source Of Inspiration
Romil credits his inspiration to join the civil services to his uncle, Prakash Dwivedi, an officer in the State Finance Services. His mother, Asha Dwivedi, a homemaker, and the entire family expressed profound pride and joy at his achievement.
Romil’s success, particularly achieved without formal coaching, has emerged as a beacon of hope and motivation for aspiring civil servants across the country.
