CUET UG 2025 Accountancy Paper: NTA offers retest option after exam pattern change, apply by May 23

CUET UG 2025 Accountancy Paper Re-test: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced that students who appeared for the Accountancy paper of the Common University Entrance Test Undergraduate (CUET UG) 2025 between May 13 and 16 will be given the option to either retain their original scores or appear for a retest under a revised exam pattern.

Effective from May 22, 2025, the revised pattern introduces a choice in the Accountancy paper, allowing candidates to answer questions from either Unit V: Computerised Accounting Systems or an optional unit. In the previous structure, Unit V was mandatory, which placed some candidates — especially those less familiar with computerised accounting — at a disadvantage. The updated format is intended to offer flexibility and align the exam with students’ areas of strength. According to NTA’s official notice, the revision was implemented in consultation with subject matter experts.

Students who appeared for the Accountancy paper between May 13 and May 16, before the implementation of the revised format, can choose to retake the exam. However, the NTA has set clear terms for this one-time option:

–Retest Score is Final: If a student chooses to appear for the retest, the new score will be considered final. The score from the earlier attempt will be discarded, regardless of whether it was higher or lower.

Festive offer

–Failure to Appear Equals No Score: Students who opt in for the retest but do not show up will be marked ‘ABSENT’, and no marks will be awarded for the subject.

–No Action Required to Retain Score: Candidates who do not apply for the retest will have their May 13–16 score treated as final.

Students who wish to apply for the retest must complete the application process by May 23, 2025, 1:00 PM, via the link provided on the NTA’s official portal.

The decision to introduce flexibility in the Accountancy paper follows concerns raised by students during the first phase of the exam. Candidates are advised to review the updated syllabus and understand the revised pattern thoroughly before deciding whether to retake the paper. Those considering a retest should evaluate their performance in the earlier exam carefully and stay updated by checking the official CUET UG website regularly.
