DU Admission 2025: Delhi University stated that for CUET UG 2025, students must select subjects from their Class 12 curriculum.

DU Admission 2025: The University of Delhi on Wednesday clarified that the students who are seeking admission to DU must choose the same subject they studied in Class 12th while filling out the CUET UG 2025 application form. The University hosted a comprehensive webinar providing crucial information to students and parents about the undergraduate admissions process for the upcoming academic session.

The webinar was led by DU’s Dean of Admissions, Haneet Gandhi, and Joint Dean Anand Sonkar, who offered detailed guidance on the admission procedure. They emphasised the significance of carefully filling out the application forms, ensuring the accuracy of details such as names, parents’ names, categories, photographs, and digital signatures.

Gandhi specifically addressed concerns about the CUET application, stressing that errors made during the application process could not be corrected later. “From this year, students can select up to five subjects in CUET, which covers 37 subjects, including a General Aptitude Test. It is crucial to choose CUET subjects that match those studied in Class 12,” she said.

One common query from students involved the eligibility for various programmes based on their Class 12 subjects. Addressing a question from a science student aspiring to pursue a commerce degree, Gandhi clarified that for BCom (Hons.), students must have studied either Mathematics or Accountancy in Class 12. “Those without these subjects are ineligible for B.Com (Hons.) but can apply for the B.Com programme,” she added.

DU Admission 2025: CUET UG Mandatory 

DU recently released the information brochure for undergraduate (UG) course admissions for the academic session 2025-26. As per the announcement, DU UG admissions for 2025 will be solely based on the scores obtained in the CUET (UG) 2025 exam. The university has clarified that “Only the scores obtained in CUET (UG) – 2025 will be considered for admissions to the academic year 2025-26.”

DU officials reiterated that the CUET is mandatory for all undergraduate aspirants. However, they clarified that Class 12 board results will only play a role in confirming eligibility, with the CUET score being the deciding factor for admission. They also advised students to rely solely on the official DU website for all updates, cautioning against external sources of information.

DU currently offers 79 undergraduate programmes across its 69 affiliated colleges, and all of them require CUET scores for admission.
