DUSU Elections 2024: Eight candidates are contesting for the post of president, five for the post of vice president, and four each for the post of secretary and joint secretary.

Five rounds of counting of votes have been completed in the DUSU elections 2024. Out of about 19-20 rounds, six rounds of counting have been completed so far. NSUI has maintained its lead, this time 21 candidates are contesting, out of which 9 are women. NSUI candidates are leading in the race for all three posts of President, Secretary, and Joint Secretary. At the same time, ABVP is ahead in the race for the post of Vice President.

As many as 14 CCTV cameras and 8 video cameras have been installed on the campus to monitor the votes in the Delhi University Students Union elections. Instructions have been given to conduct counting in two shifts in all colleges, departments, institutes, centres. Counting commenced at 8 am for the morning shift and at 2 pm for the evening shift. Eight candidates are contesting for the post of president, five for the post of vice president, and four each for the post of secretary and joint secretary.

Meanwhile, Delhi University has received an affidavit signed by all the candidates contesting the student union elections. This affidavit has refrained candidates from playing drums or loudspeakers after the results are released, banned bursting crackers, and not putting up pamphlets. It has been said in the affidavit that after the victory, the candidates will not be able to take out road shows or rallies. Candidates who do not follow these conditions, their victory can be canceled or they can also be removed from the post.

Some students standing outside the counting center want to go inside but the police are not allowing them. The student says that we are not able to get the update from inside. The university is under police surveillance. The Delhi High Court had earlier stayed the results due to extensive defacement of public property.
