Former AMU Professor Donates Rs 2 Lakh to Institute Merit Scholarship

ALIGARH : Prof. N.A.K. Durrani, a retired faculty member of the Department of Mass Communication, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), has donated a sum of Rs. 2,00,000 for instituting the “Prof. Noor Ahmad Khan Durrani Merit-cum-Means Scholarship” for students of the department.

The scholarship will be awarded annually to a final-year M.A. Mass Communication student selected on the basis of both merit and means, taking into account the financial status of the family, class attendance, sessional marks, and examination performance over the past year. A departmental committee comprising three faculty members will oversee the selection process.

According to Mr. Noorus Salam, Finance Officer, “The Vice-Chancellor has formally accepted the donation along with the stipulated terms and conditions. The interest accrued on this investment will be utilized for awarding the scholarship from the academic session 2025–26, as approved by the Academic Council and the Executive Council of the University.”

Prof Durrani has earlier donated a big collection of useful books and journals of Mass communication to the department.
