Approximately 4000 students enrolled in the LLB first year and 700 LLM got benefited from fee relaxation
Osmania University has hiked the tuition fees for UG and PG by 30-35% from 2022 session. The decision to increase the tuition fee came into effect after a Government Order (GO) was issued by the Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TSHE) directing the varsity to implement the new fee structure.
“The decision was taken after proper deliberation by the government. The officials compared the fee structure of Telangana and Kakatiya University, which confirmed that Osmania University was charging less fee than these public universities for the past 10 years,” says Gali Vinod Kumar, dean, faculty of law, Osmania University.
Osmania University has around 500 affiliated institutions and course fees are also increased from them. For the academic session 2021-22, the first-year fee for LLB, and LLM programmes was only Rs 5,000 per year, which has been increased to Rs16,000. The course fee for MA, MSc and other courses have been increased too. “Students pursuing various full-time courses at the university are allowed to apply for fee reimbursement by availing the government scholarships. Last year, more than 90% of SC/ST students were reimbursed with full tuition fees. Close to 4000 LLB students and 700 LLM benefited from fee relaxation.” General category students from the EWS category were the beneficiaries.
