The Haryana School Education Department on Wednesday night directed all government and private schools in Gurugram and Faridabad to shift to hybrid mode for all classes except for classes 10 and 12 till December 21, 2024.
All schools in both districts have shifted to hybrid mode from today, December 19, 2024.
“To address severe air pollution under Stage-IV of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP), higher education institutions in Haryana Gurugram district are directed to adopt a hybrid mode of classes (physical + online) until 21st December 2024,” DC Gurugram said in a post on X.

Students and guardians can opt for online classes where feasible. This action aligns with the Commission for Air Quality Management’s (CAQM) directive to mitigate health risks due to rising AQI levels. Institutions are urged to implement additional emergency measures to protect students and staff.
“All actions as envisaged under Stage-IV of the latest GRAP Schedule as issued by the Commission vide its order dated 13.12.2024 be implemented with immediate effect in right earnest by all agencies in entire NCR, in addition to the actions under Stage-I to Stage-III of the revised GRAP Schedule (December 2024) already in force,” the official order reads.
“Accordingly, all the Heads of Schools of Govt. and Private Schools of Faridabad and Gurugram district of the State are directed to conduct classes in schools for children up to Class IX and XI in a Hybrid Mode’ i.e. both in physical and online mode (wherever online mode is feasible) with immediate effect until further orders,” the official order further added.

School authorities have been told to quickly share this information with students’ parents and guardians. This is being done along with the measures already in place under Stages I to III of the updated GRAP plan, which started in early December.
