But beyond the anticipation of official solutions, an intriguing experiment unfolded – could advanced AI models like ChatGPT and DeepSeek solve the same brain-teasing questions faced by lakhs of engineering aspirants across the country?

In a unique test of machine intelligence, The Indian Express posed one question each from Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics from the recently concluded JEE Main Session-2 paper to both ChatGPT and DeepSeek, two of the most widely recognised generative AI platforms.

JEE Main 2025 Physics Question

The Physics question tested conceptual clarity in gravitation, asking candidates to determine the height from the Earth’s surface and the speed of a particle.

Both ChatGPT and DeepSeek approached the problem by breaking it down with relevant formulas, offering not just the right answer, but also a step-by-step explanation mirroring textbook precision. Remarkably, both AIs arrived at the same conclusion independently, showcasing their potential as study companions for conceptual subjects.

JEE Main 2025 Chemistry Question

The Chemistry section presented a question involving colligative properties – a classic concept known to test a student’s grasp of solution chemistry.
