Holi 2025 School Holiday: Holi will be celebrated on 14 March this year across most parts of India. As the festival holds great significance, schools will remain closed in many regions. While the festival of colours is enjoyed throughout the country, in states like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Jharkhand, Punjab, Haryana, and Delhi, Holi preparations usually begin a week in advance.
The holiday schedule differs from state to state, as some enjoy a two-day break, while others might have an extended holiday. In this article, we will take a look at the holiday schedules for schools across different states during this year’s Holi celebrations.
Delhi
In the capital city, schools will be shut on 13 and 14 March. As many institutions follow a five-day workweek, there is a possibility of an extended break until 16 March, giving students a four-day break.
Rajasthan
Schools in Rajasthan are likely to remain closed for three consecutive days. However, students are advised to check with their respective institutions for the exact holiday dates.
Uttar Pradesh
Holi holds great cultural importance in Uttar Pradesh, especially in Mathura and Vrindavan, where grand celebrations take place. Schools will observe holidays on 13 and 14 March.
Bihar and Jharkhand
In these two states, schools will remain closed for two days.
Punjab and Haryana
Schools in these regions will also remain closed for two days.
Madhya Pradesh
Schools in MP, particularly in cities like Bhopal and Indore, will be closed on 13 and 14 March to celebrate the festival of colours.

Telangana and Andhra Pradesh
The Telangana government has announced 14 March as a holiday for all educational institutions. As 15 March falls on a Saturday, some schools may have a half-day or declare an extra holiday, allowing students a three-day break.

In Karnataka and several other states, Holi is generally considered a school holiday. However, the exact holiday dates may vary across different cities and regions.
