HR Interview Question India
Interviewer : That is all of the questions that I have for you. Do you have any questions for me?
Mahesh : Yes, there are a couple of things that I am curious about. First, could you tell me a little about the company culture here?
Interviewer : I’d be happy to. We try to create an open and friendly work environment here. Since we are a smaller company, we try to create a family-like environment. We want our employees to like working here and we want them to know that when they join our company, we are going to help them and support them in any way that we can.
Mahesh : That sounds great. I am also curious about your company’s expected growth in the next few years.
Interviewer : Well, I can’t talk about specifics with you, but I can say that we are very excited about our future. We have a few new products that we will launch in the next couple of years, and we think that they all have great sales potential.
Mahesh : That sounds exciting. That is all the questions I have.
Interviewer : Great. I will contact you in the next couple of days to let you know what we decide.
Mahesh : Thanks again for this opportunity. I look forward to hearing from you.
Interviewer : So, that’s about it. Is there anything you would like to ask me?
Mahesh : Yes. What is the typical career path for someone in this role?
Interviewer : Normally, an entry-level employee like yourself will work as a marketing associate for three to five years. After that, the employee is usually promoted to marketing executive. From that point on, nothing is guaranteed.
Mahesh : I see. And does your company tend to promote from within the marketing department?
Interviewer : Yes. Most of our marketing managers and directors were promoted from within the company and they all worked as marketing executives for about 10 years before being promoted. We prefer to promote within our own organization whenever possible.
Mahesh : That is good hear. I don’t have any other questions for you at the moment.
Interviewer : Great. It was a pleasure to meet you and I will be in touch with you soon.
Mahesh : It was a pleasure to meet you and thank you for the chance to interview for this position.
Interviewer : Before we end the interview, what questions do you have for me?
Mahesh : There are a couple of questions that I would like to ask. First, what are the biggest challenges facing the logistics department right now?
Interviewer : Honestly, the logistics department is facing many tough challenges these days. Our company is growing quickly and that means more work and responsibilities for the logistics department. As our company grows we have more clients to ship to, more suppliers to order from, and more manufacturers to work with. These are all things that logistics needs to manage, so right now is a busy but exciting time for logistics.
Mahesh : And what would I be working on initially?
Interviewer : At first, you will be working on organizing and developing a system for shipping to our clients. We want you to create a system that improves our shipping time and accuracy.
Mahesh : I’m confident I can do that. Anyway, thank you again for the chance to interview. I appreciate it.
Interviewer : It was great meeting you. I will be in touch soon.
Interviewer : May I contact your references?
Mahesh : Yes, you may contact my references. But please keep in mind that most of my references are living in Japan, so the time difference and English could be issues.
Interviewer : Do your references speak English?
Mahesh : They speak English, but most of them are not native speakers. So, there might be times when they do not completely understand a question.
Interviewer : I don’t think that it will be a problem but thank you for letting me know.
Mahesh : No problem. Also, I already told them to expect a call from somebody from America, so they shouldn’t be too surprised.
Interviewer : Great.
Interviewer : That is all of the questions that I have for you. Is there anything else that you want to add?
Mahesh : I would just like to say thank you again for the chance to interview. Also, I hope that you seriously consider me for this position because I think I would be a great fit here and I could add a lot of value to your company.
Interviewer : I also think you would be a great fit for this company. I have to interview a few more people for this position and I should be able to let you know by the end of the week.
Mahesh : Great. It was a pleasure meeting you.
Interviewer : You too, Mahesh . Have a great day and I will be in touch soon.
Interviewer : I do not have any more questions for you. Is there anything you would like to ask me about this account manager position?
Mahesh : Yes, I was wondering what other departments I would work closely with if I got the job.
Interviewer : If you got the job, then you would work very closely with both the accounting team and the logistics team. The accounting team will take care of all the sales and money issues, and the logistics team will take care of the shipping and delivery. If your customer has any problem with either of these things, then you will need to sort out the problem with either the accounting or logistics team.
Mahesh : I see. So, I guess I would need to make a strong relationship with the people on those teams.
Interviewer : That would be very helpful. Sometimes, there can be tension between an account manager and the other teams, but it is part of the job.
Mahesh : I understand. I know I can handle that kind of work well.
Interviewer : Great. I am glad to hear it.
Interviewer : Before we end the interview, do you have any questions for me?
Mahesh : Yes, I do. I am curious about the company’s expectations. So, what do you expect from me in my first three months?
Interviewer : Since you would be joining as an entry-level employee, the company would not expect a lot from you during the first three months. For the first three months, new entry-level employees complete the company’s training program. They learn everything they need to know about working at our company, and they start to get familiar with the work that they will be doing on a day-to-day basis.
Mahesh : I see. And would I be doing any work on my own during that time?
Interviewer : No. Everything done during the first three months is supervised by an experienced staff member from the team. We think that this allows the new employee to get comfortable with our company and their work. We do not want to overwhelm them with too much work right off the bat.
Mahesh : I understand. Thank you for answering my question. I don’t have any other questions.
Interviewer : Great. It was a pleasure meeting you. I will contact you soon.
Interviewer : Do you have any questions for me?
Mahesh : Yes. What do you expect me to accomplish in the first 90 days?
Interviewer : That’s a good question. First, I want you to become familiar with the company’s products, processes, and policies. Second, I would like you to evaluate the marketing team and review the processes and methods that the marketing team uses. Finally, I would like for you to develop a plan to improve the performance of the marketing team.
Mahesh : I understand. I would be able to do that. As we talked about before, I have experience reorganizing and improving marketing teams and departments.
Interviewer : I remember, and I do think that you would be a great fit here. But I do have to interview a few more candidates. I will let you know by the end of the week. Thank you so much for coming and interviewing today.
Mahesh : It was my pleasure. Thank you again for the opportunity.
Interviewer : Have a good day.
Mahesh : You too.
Interviewer : Would you like to ask me anything before we end the interview?
Mahesh : Yes, I have a question for you. What are the company’s highest-priority goals this year, and how would my role contribute?
Interviewer : The company’s main goal this year is the successful launch and promotion of our new clothing line. We have developed a clothing line for teenagers and we plan to launch it at the end of the year. As a member of the logistics team, you will be responsible for coordinating shipping of the new products to our customers, arranging delivery schedules, and organizing storage.
Mahesh : I see. And would I be in charge of any of that work?
Interviewer : I cannot answer that. That is the decision of the logistics manager.
Mahesh : I understand. That’s the only question I have for you.
Interviewer : Great. Thanks for coming and I will be in touch soon.
Mahesh : Thank you. Have a nice day.
Interviewer : Take care.
Interviewer : Do you have any other questions for me?
Mahesh : I have one more question for you.
Interviewer : Go ahead.
Mahesh : What percentage of managers were promoted from within the company?
Interviewer : I don’t know the exact figure, but I would say that about 75% of our managers started at a lower position within the company. If possible, we prefer to promote from within. We want to reward our employees for their hard work, and we want managers who are familiar with our company.
Mahesh : Okay. Career advancement is very important to me, and I wanted to make sure that if I joined your company, I would have the chance to get promoted.
Interviewer : Don’t worry about that. If you join our company, you will have plenty of chances to advance your career. Is there anything else?
Mahesh : That’s it. Thank you for the chance to interview.
Interviewer : Thank you for coming. I’ll contact you by the end of the week to let you know the results.
Interviewer : Do you have any other questions?
Mahesh : Yes. I have one more question. When would you need me to start if I were hired?
Interviewer : We would prefer that you started as soon as possible. So, that would mean at the beginning of next month.
Mahesh : That would be no problem for me.
Interviewer : That’s good to hear.
Mahesh : And when will I find out if I got the job?
Interviewer : I will finish the interviews today, so I will be able to tell you by tomorrow afternoon.
Mahesh : Great. I look forward to hearing from you. Thank you so much again for the chance to interview.
Interviewer : Thank you for coming. Have a nice day and I will talk to you soon.
Interviewer : Do you have any questions for me?
Mahesh : Yes, I am curious about something. Does this job usually lead to other positions at the company?
Interviewer : Yes. Most people who join our sales team start off as sales assistants. Then after about two or three years, they are promoted to sales associates. Then, depending on performance, a sales member can be promoted to sales executive, sales manager, and possibly higher.
Mahesh : Does being promoted to a sales associate depend solely on sales performance?
Interviewer : No. It depends on a variety of factors. It depends on sales performance, how well the person works with others, attitude, and the company’s needs.
Mahesh : I understand. I don’t have any more questions.
Interviewer : Okay. Thank you for coming today. I will be in contact with you soon.
Mahesh : Thank you. Have a nice day.
Interviewer : Now, you can ask me some more questions if you’d like.
Mahesh : Yes, I have a question. What do you like most about working at this company?
Interviewer : I like the fact that our company produces medical products that help people all over the world. We are always developing new and innovative products that improve people’s lives. Plus, the salary is good and there are a lot of extra perks.
Mahesh : What kind of perks?
Interviewer : Well, our company offers free snacks and coffee throughout the day. There is a gym in the basement if you want to exercise. Also, there is free parking if you have a car and there is a shuttle bus that goes through the city if you don’t have a car.
Mahesh : Wow, those perks sound great.
Interviewer : This really is a good place to work. Do you have any other questions?
Mahesh : Yes, I have a few more questions.
Interviewer : Do you have any other questions for me?
Mahesh : I have one more question. How is this company doing compared to your competitors?
Interviewer : We are the ninth biggest health and fitness company in the United States in terms of market share. We have been growing at a double-digit rate for the past 3 years and we expect to be one of the top 5 health and fitness companies within the next 3 years.
Mahesh : I see. And why do you think your company is having so much success?
Interviewer : We are a young company that is motivated and eager to grow. We are more innovative than most of our competition. We do a better job of combining health and fitness with technology.
Mahesh : That is exactly how I feel about your company. Honestly, I would love to work here and I hope you seriously consider me for this position.
Interviewer : Absolutely. I will be in touch within the next couple of days. Thank you for coming.
Mahesh : My pleasure. It was great to meet you.
Interviewer : Would you like to ask me any other questions?
Mahesh : Yes, I have another question. How many people work for this company?
Interviewer : We have over 2 thousand employees worldwide. Over half of those are based here in the US. And here at our head office, there are about 500 employees.
Mahesh : I see. And do you expect the number of employees to rise or fall in the next couple of years?
Interviewer : I do not think that there will be a major rise or fall. Our company has been growing steadily over the past decade and we believe that it will continue to do so. Therefore, our workforce will most likely continue to grow steadily.
Mahesh : I see. Thank you for answering my questions.
Interviewer : No problem. Thank you for coming in for the interview today. I will contact you soon.
Mahesh : Great. Have a nice day.
Interviewer : You too.
Interviewer : Now, you can ask me some questions if you’d like.
Mahesh : You answered most of the questions I had during the interview, but there is one thing that I am curious about. What has been this company’s layoff history in recent years?
Interviewer : This company is very stable. We have not laid off any staff for 10 years. The last time that we had to lay off some employees was back in 2008. As I am sure you remember, the economic situation at the time was horrendous. There was nothing the company could do.
Mahesh : I understand. Many companies had to lay off employees at that time.
Interviewer : That’s right. This company values its employees and the last thing we want to do is lay people off. This company will only lay people off as a last resort.
Mahesh : I understand. Thank you for answering my question. I don’t have any other questions for you.
Interviewer : Well, thank you for coming in today. I will contact you by the end of the week to let you know the results of the interview.
Mahesh : Thank you. Have a nice day.
Interviewer : You too.
Interviewer : Do you have any other questions for me?
Mahesh : I have one last question. If I get this job, what kind of training should I expect?
Interviewer : If you get this job, then you will receive one week of corporate training from our human resources department. During this week, you will learn all about company policies and other general information about the company. After that, you will receive two weeks of training from your department. Then, you will work under the supervision of an experienced employee for two months.
Mahesh : So, after about three months, I will have the responsibilities of a regular employee?
Interviewer : If your manager feels that you are ready, then you will be given more responsibilities and independence. For most people, this is usually after working with an experienced staff member for two months.
Mahesh : That sounds good.
Interviewer : Any other questions?
Mahesh : Not that I can think of. Thank you so much for giving me the chance to interview today.
Interviewer : Thanks for coming. I will call you by the end of this week and let you know.
Interviewer : Is there anything you would like to ask me?
Mahesh : Yes. Could you please describe a typical day for this position?
Interviewer : As a sales associate, you would be responsible for dealing with existing clients and trying to gain new clients for the company.
Mahesh : I see.
Interviewer : So, you would be working with existing clients and helping them with whatever they need. When there is no work regarding existing clients, then you would be making calls to potential clients, preparing sales presentations, or researching ways for the company to get new business.
Mahesh : I understand. I feel confident that I could do all of those tasks well.
Interviewer : I am glad to hear it. Do you have any other questions?
Mahesh : No, I don’t. Thank you for letting me interview today. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Interviewer : Thank you for coming. I will call you and let you know the results of the interview sometime next week.
Interviewer : Do you have any other questions that you would like to ask me?
Mahesh : I have one last question for you. What will my workstation be like? Will I get an office, a cubicle, or a desk?
Interviewer : All junior members of the accounting staff work in cubicles on the 10th floor. The accounting managers and the accounting director get their own offices on the 10th floor. So, you would be in a cubicle on the 10th floor.
Mahesh : I understand.
Interviewer : Do you have a problem working in a cubicle?
Mahesh : Not at all. I was just curious.
Interviewer : Great. Thanks again for coming today. I really enjoyed meeting and getting to know you. I should be able to let you know the results of the interview by early next week.
Mahesh : Great. I look forward to hearing from you. Have a good day.
Interviewer : You too.
Interviewer : Do you have any questions before we conclude the interview?
Mahesh : I have one question. What are the opportunities for advancement here?
Interviewer : There are many opportunities for advancement here. As you know, we are a large multi-national corporation, so we have a complex and large corporate structure that allows our employees to continuously advance their career.
Mahesh : If I begin as a junior sales member, what will the next positions be?
Interviewer : A junior sales member becomes a senior sales member. And then they can be promoted to sales associate, assistant manager, manager, and executive. Also, if you work hard and perform well, it is possible to rise even higher within this company.
Mahesh : That sounds great to me. Thank you for answering my question.
Interviewer : No problem. I will call you this week to let you know.
Mahesh : I look forward to hearing from you.
