IAS Ashima Goyal, Who Got AIR 65 In UPSC Without Coaching, Is True Inspiration For All Aspirants – News18

UPSC civil services examination is a coveted and one of the most difficult exams in India. The contestants require intensive preparation to clear this exam. Many of them manage to crack it with their relentless efforts and one of them is Ashima Goyal (26), a resident of Ballabgarh town, Haryana. She belongs to the UPSC 2020 batch, Uttarakhand cadre.

Ashima demonstrated her calibre in studies since childhood and topped the examinations. She pursued her Master’s in Technology in Chemical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. She then prepared for the UPSC alongside the M Tech course. Ashima was working in Bengaluru when she attempted the UPSC exam for the first time in 2018. She, however, left her job later, to fully concentrate on the preparations.

She failed to clear the UPSC exam on the first attempt but remained unperturbed by the setbacks. She prepared afresh and succeeded in becoming an IAS (Indian Administrative Service) on the second attempt with 65th rank with her relentless efforts.

According to the reports, Ashima used to devote 9-10 hours to her studies while pursuing chemical engineering. She prepared for the UPSC exam without the support of any coaching classes and used to share notes and ideas with her friends. She worked on her weak areas in the UPSC syllabus after failing on the first attempt and then finally accomplished her dream in 2019. Ashima’s father used to manage a cyber cafe and her mother is a homemaker. Her elder sister works as a Chartered Accountant.

Ashima was initially recruited in the Kerala cadre on her appointment. She, however, took the inter-cadre transfer after her marriage with IFS (Indian Foreign Service) officer Rahul Mishra in 2022. She was later transferred to Uttarakhand cadre.

Ashima got recognition from the famous television show Kaun Banega Crorepati after she appeared on the show via video call to help a contestant named Abhinav Singh. She answered the question in just five seconds and received appreciation from the host and actor Amitabh Bachchan.
