IIM Ahmedabad 60th Convocation: The Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA) hosted its 60th convocation ceremony at the Louis Kahn Plaza of the Institute. During the ceremony, Professor Bharat Bhasker, the director of the Institute, announced that they will set up the first international campus in Dubai. The first programme at the Dubai campus will be launched in September 2025. This will make IIM Ahmedabad the first IIM to do so.
The director also announced the establishment of a new Madan Mohanka Centre of Excellence in Case Method of Learning backed by Madan Mohanka, an industrialist and an alumnus of IIMA from PGP 1967.
The convocation ceremony saw Dr S Somanath, Dr Vikram Sarabhai, a professor and former chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), as the chief guest. Over 1200 students were given degrees by the duo.
The Convocation ceremony awarded degrees to 630 young leaders from four programmes. This included 22 scholars from the Doctoral Programme in Management (PhD), 405 students from the two-year Post Graduate Programme in Management (MBA-PGP), 45 students from the two-year Post Graduate Programme in Food and Agri-business Management (MBA-FABM), and 158 students from the one-year Post Graduate Programme in Management (MBA-PGPX), as mentioned in the press release.
Five students were awarded gold medals by the chief guest for their academic achievements. These included Abhi Bansal, Ishaan Jain, and Aanchal Chadha from MBA-PGP; Yogesh Kumar R from MBA-FABM; and Aashruth Rangarajan from MBA-PGPX.
Meanwhile, the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIMA) has partnered with the FPSB India, the Indian subsidiary of Financial Planning Standards Board Ltd. (FPSB), to launch the executive programme in financial planning and investment advisory services. This collaboration aims to grow the significance of structured financial planning education in India.
It is designed for mid-to-senior-level finance professionals, the one-year programme will equip participants with knowledge of investment management, retirement tax planning, estate & portfolio risk management, insurance, and alternative investments, along with insights into regulatory frameworks and ethical standards.

The curriculum emphasizes behavioural finance, leadership, negotiation, and communication skills, essential for today’s financial advisors, as mentioned in the press release. Admissions for the course have been started from March and will end in August. The inaugural batch will start from September 2025.
