IIM Ahmedabad will be the first IIM in the country to open an international campus. The first programme in the Dubai campus will commence on September 2025

The country’s number one management college IIM Ahmedabad will set up its first international campus in Dubai. It will be the first IIM in the country to do so. The first programme in the Dubai campus will commence on September 2025. Director Professor Bharat Bhaskar announced the same while addressing the 60th convocation of the institute.

The IIM director also announced the establishment of a new Madan Mohanka Centre for Excellence in Case Method of Learning. It will be started in collaboration with Man Mohanka, a PGP 1967 alumnus of IIM Ahmedabad. Former ISRO chairman S Somnath was present as the chief guest at this convocation. More than 1200 students of the IIM were awarded degrees during the convocation ceremony on Sunday.

While addressing the convocation, former ISRO Chairman S Somnath shared his journey and emphasised the importance of innovation and collaboration for the country’s progress. He said that innovation does not happen alone. It requires a culture of curiosity, the strength to face failure, and an insatiable hunger to find answers.

He said that at ISRO, they faced many challenges. Whether it was the initial struggle to launch our first satellite Aryabhata or the perseverance required for Chandrayaan-3, which made India the first country to land near the south pole of the Moon, each failure strengthened their resolve to try again, find better solutions, and reach greater heights, he added.

He advised MBA students to be prepared for important decisions in life. He said that opportunities come only once. One must train their mind to recognise them. If they study the stories of great leaders, they will see that they prepared themselves thoroughly while waiting for the right time. This magic happens to those who wait, dream, prepare and prepare themselves well.
