The Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (IIMK) has launched a full-time undergraduate degree programme — the Bachelor of Management Studies (Honours with Research). This four-year BMS programme, will be delivered at the Institute’s Kochi Campus. The online application can be accessed from iimk.ac.in/academic-programmes/BMS/bms-overview.
The programme, which starts in the 2025–26 academic year, combines management education with interdisciplinary learning. In addition to a Major in Management, students can opt for stackable Minors in fields including economics and public policy, artificial intelligence and machine learning, psychology and behavioural sciences, finance and big data, liberal studies.
With flexible entry-exit options aligned with the New Education Policy (NEP), IIMK BMS will be a four-years, eight semester programme with Honours and Research. It will also have an exchange semester, research opportunities, internships and a “state-of-the-art futuristic curriculum” blending contemporary and classical subject taught by world class faculty of IIM Kozhikode.
The programme will also include Career Assistance from Corporate Access Readiness and Engagement (CARE), the professional career cell of IIMK.
Prof. Debashis Chatterjee, Director of IIM Kozhikode, emphasized the transformational vision behind the programme: “This undergraduate programme is a game-changer—not just for IIM Kozhikode, but for Indian higher education. It introduces management thinking to young minds at the right age, empowers them with interdisciplinary tools, and shapes responsible, culturally aware leaders of tomorrow. At a time when the world needs agile thinkers and grounded dreamers, this initiative bridges the gap between curiosity and capability, between aspiration and action.”
The admission process will begin with an aptitude test in June 2025, followed by interviews in July. The first cohort will commence classes in late August or early September.
Graduates from this programme will be equipped to pursue careers across a wide spectrum of domains that demand a combination of technological fluency, cultural sensitivity, and strategic thinking. Possible career paths include the following in addition to the usual opportunities available in Business in the fields of marketing, finance, human resource etc. The students may also aspire for analysts and other roles available in Consulting/Business organisations.
