IIT Delhi Professor, Manmohan Prasad Gupta, To Be Appointed As IIM Lucknow Director – News18

Professor Manmohan will hold the post of director of IIM Lucknow for five years. He will replace Acharna Shukla who completed her five-year term on April 4.

Professor Manmohan Prasad Gupta of IIT Delhi has been appointed as the new director of IIM Lucknow. He is the first professor from an IIT to become the director of an IIM. Professor Manmohan will hold the post of director of IIM Lucknow for five years.

Prof. Gupta will replace Acharna Shukla, Director of IIM Lucknow, who completed her five-year term on April 4. Professor Manmohan will take over as Director of the management institute on April 23.

“IIM Lucknow is pleased to announce that Prof. Manmohan Prasad Gupta, currently serving as Professor at IIT Delhi shall be taking charge as the Director of the institute shortly,” the IIM said in an official press release.

Prof. Gupta is a distinguished faculty member at the Department of Management Studies, IIT Delhi. He completed his B.Tech from Harcourt Butler Technical University (formerly Harcourt Butler Technological Institute), Kanpur. Thereafter, he completed his M.Tech in 1985 and Ph.D. in 1990 from IIT Delhi.

Prof. Gupta began his academic career at IIT Roorkee, where he was a Lecturer from 1990 to 1996 and an Assistant Professor from 1996 to 1997. He joined IIT Delhi as an Assistant Professor in 1997 and has been with the institute ever since.

He has been working as a Professor of Information Systems in the Department of Management (DMS), IIT Delhi. He has published 12 doctoral theses, 22 sponsored projects, 4 co-authored/edited books and more than 200 research articles. He has been on the HAG (Higher Administrative Grade) scale at IIT Delhi since 2017. Currently he is the Modi Foundation Chair Professor at IIT Delhi.

Professor Gupta will take over from Prof. Archana Shukla, who is currently serving as the Director-in-charge of IIM Lucknow. Prof. Shukla was reappointed to this position on April 4, 2024, after completing her five-year term. The reappointment was made by N. Chandrasekaran, the Chairperson of the IIM Lucknow Board of Governors, and will remain effective until a permanent Director is appointed.
