Introduction to Indian Army: UES-25
The Indian Army ensures national security and defense as a vital component of the Indian Armed Forces. The primary concern of establishing the Indian Army is to Provide security from external threats.
The Indian Army Corps of Engineers proudly claims a rich history that dates back to the mid-18th century. The Corps of Engineers actively traces its roots to 1777, when its earliest existing subunit was established, and officially recognizes its founding in 1780, when the Madras Sappers, the Corps’ oldest unit, was raised.
The Corps comprises three gatherings of battle specialists, specifically the Madras Sappers, the Bengal Sappers, and the Bombay Sappers. A gathering is generally similar to a regiment of Indian infantry, each one gathering comprising various architect regiments. The architect regiment is the essential battle engineer unit, practically equivalent to an infantry force.
University Entry Scheme
It is the Selection Procedure of the Indian army. In this entry scheme, technical graduates are recruited who are in the pre-final year of their graduation. The Indian Army itself comes into the College or the students can view the location to which the Indian Army is coming for Recruitment. There they basically conduct a GD( Group discussion) round and a PI(Personal Interview) round. The recruiters call candidates who qualify in both rounds for the SSB (Service Selection Board), which serves as another selection procedure for the next level.
Eligibility Criteria
The eligibility Criteria for UES are as follows.
- The candidate must be a resident of India.
- Age must be between 19 to 25 years from the first day of the month in which the course is due to commence.
- Qualification: Pre-Final Year of Technical Graduation Course.
- The candidate must be unmarried.
About Exams
The Exams of UES have been conducted by the service Selection board of the Indian Army. Which is a special division of the Army responsible for the Selection and rejection of the Candidate. This Exam is conducted to recruit Technical Graduates for serving in the Army as Infantry. The division given to the Recruited personnel from this scheme is Infantry.
The authorities conduct the exams on two levels
First Level– In this Level, the candidates have to go through the Group Discussion and Personal Interview. The selected Candidate gets a call through the SSB centers.
Second level– In this level, other than the day of arrival and presenting oneself, the candidates go through a Five-day selection Procedure by which a candidate’s various suggestive personality is known.
First day–
It is the very first day. The candidates go through three things-
- The assessors administer Intelligence Tests, which include both verbal and non-verbal components. The Picture Perception and Description Test requires examiners to show candidates a picture for 30 seconds, after which candidates must write a story within 4 minutes.
- Next, the assessors facilitate a Discussion of the Picture, where they divide the batch into groups of 15 and ask each candidate to describe their individually written story.
- After declaring the Stage I results, the selection committee recommends qualified candidates to proceed to Stage II or Day 2, while others are dismissed.
Second day– It’s a Psychological Test which includes 4 things-
- The Thematic Appreciation Test presents candidates with 12 pictures, including one blank slide, for 30 seconds each, and then instructs them to write a story within 4 minutes. Candidates are free to imagine a picture of their choice for the blank slide and craft a corresponding story.
- The Word Association Test displays a sequence of 60 words to candidates for 15 seconds each, prompting them to write down the first thought that comes to mind.
- The Situation Reaction Test presents candidates with 60 everyday situations, including routine activities, and asks them to describe their reactions to each scenario.
- The Self Description Test instructs candidates to write five separate paragraphs, each addressing a different circumstance, from the perspectives of their parents, friends, and superiors
Third, Fourth And Fifth Day-
On these days the is a GTO(group task officer Test)
Third day-GTO day-1 includes:– Group Discussion, Group Planning exercise, Progressive Group task, Group Obstacle race, Half Group task, Lecturette.
Fourth Day-GTO day-2 includes:- Individual Obstacles, Command Tasks, Final Group task
Fifth Day– This final day includes closing address, Conference, Declaration of results, and Dispersal.
Note:
The assessors may complete GTO tests in a single day, depending on the circumstances. The selection committee then invites selected candidates for a personal interview, creating a formal yet relaxed environment. Interviewers ask questions based on everyday experiences.
After selecting candidates, the medical board administers a medical test
In this way the whole selection Procedure of the Indian Army takes Place.
