If you have always been fascinated by the seas and oceans and dreamt of a maritime job, there is a piece of good news for you. You now have a chance to become a sailor for the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) as the maritime law enforcement agency has come up with a recruitment drive for 350 vacant posts.
The application window is open from September 8 to September 22, and prospective candidates can easily apply online by visiting the official Indian Coast Guard website at joinindiancoastguard.cdac.in. Applicants must be Class 10/12th pass and should be between 18 to 22 years old to apply for the Navik post in the Coast Guard.
Age Limit
To be eligible for the sailor position in the Indian Coast Guard, candidates must fall within the age range of 18 to 22 years. This means their date of birth should fall between April 30, 2006, and May 1, 2022. For SC/ST category candidates, there is a five-year relaxation in the maximum age limit, while OBC category candidates are granted a three-year relaxation.

Educational Qualification
Eligibility requirements vary for Indian Coast Guard sailor positions. The Sailor Domestic Branch mandates a minimum 10th-grade education, Sailor GD requires a 12th-grade education with proficiency in Mathematics and Physics, and the Mechanical branch necessitates a 10th-grade qualification along with a Diploma in Electrical, Mechanical, Electronics, or Telecommunication Engineering.
Selection Process
The Indian Coast Guard sailor recruitment follows a four-stage evaluation process. It starts with an initial online exam and proceeds to a physical fitness test, including a 1.6-kilometre run in 7 minutes, along with 20 sit-ups and 10 push-ups. Afterwards, candidates with successful fitness tests undergo document verification. If all documents are in order, the next step is a medical examination held at INS Chilka. Candidates who pass the medical test in Stage 3 are provisionally selected for training at INS Chilka.
Salary
For those in the Sailor Domestic Branch and GD positions, the monthly salary is Rs 21,700, complemented by a range of allowances. In contrast, individuals in the Mechanical branch receive a salary of Rs 29,200, which includes various allowances.
