Indian Police Service is a glorious job every aspirant dreams of. The Indian Police Service Officers provide senior-level leadership on both the central and state levels, and they are also responsible for maintaining law and order in the state or in the country. Recruitment Procedure:
The recruitment procedure of the IPS is through the civil service examination conducted by the Union Public Commission. There are three stages of the exam first one is a preliminary exam, then the Main exam after that interview. These three stages are very tough.
Through appointment of State Police Service officers by promotion, and also through Limited Competitive Examination conducted by Union Public Service Commission also they are also recruiting the Indian Police Service Officers.
Training:
The Training procedure for the IPS is also tough they join the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration, Mussoorie for the foundation training and after the foundation training they move to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy, Hyderabad for the further training and and after completion of the training’s they get confirmation in Indian Police Service as an officer. There are also lots of training sessions for them during their career as an officer in the Indian Police Service.
Objectives of an IPS officer:
1. They are responsible for the peace in public areas, crime prevention, Drug smuggling, Traffic control and also for VIP Security, and many more responsibilities.
2. The IPS Officers are leading and commanding the Indian Intelligence Agencies like Research and Analysis Wing (R&AW), Intelligence Bureau (IB), Central Bureau of Investigations (CBI), Criminal Investigation Department (CID), etc.
3. They serve as heads of the departments in policy making in the Ministries and Departments of Central and State Governments and public sector undertakings, both at the center and states.
4. They also work as the coordinators between all other Indian Forces and the Indian Armed Forces and the Indian Army.
5. They lead the police force with courage, full dedication, and a strong sense of service to serve the people and the peace in their district, state, and in their country.
6. The IPS officers also lead and command central police forces, like BSF, CRPF, and ITBP.CPF, CISF, CAPF, NSG.

Appointments to other Places:
Indian Police Service officers can work in many more places. They can get appointed in autonomous organizations / subordinate Organizations, PSUs, International organizations, and many more places. They also work as the personal secretary of the ministers in the central government. Also, they are giving their services to RAW, IB, and CBI.
