An engineering degree or B-Tech degree is a prestigious graduation Degree in India or any part of the world. India has more than 4,600 engineering colleges, Of which are including some of them is private and some of them are government, and IIT, and NIT,  are the top engineering colleges in India. But students have to clear some examinations and ISEET is among them. In this article, we will explore, what ISEET stands for? and ISEET (Indian Science Engineering Eligibility Test).

ISEET is a proposed common entrance examination for admission to undergraduate engineering programs in India, including the prestigious IITs (Indian Institutes of Technology), NITs (National Institutes of Technology), and other centrally funded technical institutions the time for different examinations is about to get over as soon ISEET (Indian Science Engineering eligibility test)  is being introduced which will replace most of the engineering examinations like IIT JEE, AIEEE, and other government engineering colleges examinations at list. During 2013, colleges will be taking students based on marks of ISEET (Indian Science Engineering eligibility test) and there will not be any IIT JEE or AIEEE and government is also in the process of removing state government examinations like UPTU, WBJEEE, and Bihar combined etc. ISEET 2013 is expected to be conducted in March or April 2013 and probably gap of students appearing in IITJEE and AIEEE which was as huge as 700000 will be over.

Department of Human Resource and Development introduced ISEET – 2013 to reduce the burden of students due to different engineering examinations taking place, Its notification is expected to come in September 2012. A major reason for the introduction of ISEET was to remove the mental burden of attending different examinations from students and the Financial burden was of the same importance that was being incurred by parents.

How ISEET is different from AIEEE or IIT JEE

ISEET has been designed in three parts where a student will have to emphasize on Board exams and it will have 50% of weight of board examination for IIT merit list and 40% of weightage to class 12th result would be given in NIT after 2 years IIT can also opt for deteriorating its weightage to board exam till 40%  and  ISEET will be CBT computer-based test like that of IELTS or SAT whose marks will be valid for 2 years period and will be conducted probably more than twice in one academic calendar to facilitate students.

Eligibility for ISEET

The minimum eligibility for a student to get ISEET is the student must have good marks from any recognized school including the specific subjects Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.

What are the Exam Patterns for ISEET?

ISEET is a general national-level exam it comprises two exams which are named as follows:

  1. ISEET  Mains
  2. ISEET Advanced

Both  exams will be conducted on the same day

Duration: The total exam duration was 3 hours.

The candidate must qualify mains exam to appear at the level of Advanced.

Syllabus:

– Mathematics: Class 11 and 12 CBSE Mathematics syllabus
– Physics: Class 11 and 12 CBSE Physics syllabus
– Chemistry: Class 11 and 12 CBSE Chemistry syllabus
– Biology: Class 11 and 12 CBSE Biology syllabus

Two merit lists will be prepared

  1. IIT
  2. All centrally funded Engineering colleges.

Only a certain number of candidates will be screened based on the merit of this cumulative score (Class XII and JEE main marks in the 50:50 ratio)

Two merit lists will be prepared, one for the IITs and the other for centrally funded institutions which will have colleges apart from NIT  & IIIT as well. Ranking of IIT admission will be dependent on advanced exam marks

For all other centrally funded institutions including NITs and IIITs, the weightage of the class 12th  board exam will be 40%,  with 30% each for main and advanced exams.

Through this new system, students will also be allowed to re-appear for their board exam, if they want to appear for next year to better their ISEET score.
