​The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2025 Session 2 is scheduled from April 2 to April 9, 2025. Paper 1 (B.E./B.Tech) will be conducted on April 2, 3, 4, 7, and 8, while Paper 2 (B.Arch and B.Planning) is set for April 9. JEE (Main) not only allows students to get admission to Undergraduate Engineering Programs (B.E/B. Tech) at NITs, IIITs, other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs), Institutions/Universities funded/recognized by participating State Governments, but is also an eligibility test for JEE (Advanced), which is conducted for admission to IITs.

To excel in JEE (Main), students must have a well-structured plan and an effective strategy. It is essential to identify challenges, anticipate obstacles, and find ways to overcome them. Below is a subject-wise study plan designed specifically for those aiming to secure a high percentile in JEE (Main) 2025.

Physics

For many students, Physics is the most fascinating subject. Up to JEE (Main) level, studying Physics is manageable, but scoring high marks is not as simple. To excel, you must be fast, accurate, and strategic. Selecting the right questions during the exam is crucial and should be a key part of your strategy.

Understanding concepts thoroughly is the most important aspect of preparation. Pay close attention to your teacher, revise lessons daily, review each derivation, prepare short revision notes, and memorise formulas, definitions, and processes.

It is essential to cover the NCERT syllabus and its exemplar completely. Read the theory at least four to five times and practise all examples thoroughly. Solve all exercise questions with precision.

A strong conceptual foundation is necessary, so solving a variety of problems after completing NCERT is recommended. Start with examples, followed by objective-type and theory-based questions.

Key chapters such as System of Particles and Rotational Motion, Current Electricity, Electrical Potential and Capacitance, Ray Optics, and Units and Measurement are highly important. Conversely, topics like Mechanical Properties of Solids, Magnetism and Matter, and Kinetic Theory of Gases have fewer questions in the exam. By analysing the chapter-wise weightage, you can devise an effective scoring strategy.

Chemistry

If studied with a structured plan, Chemistry can yield excellent results. Here are some key observations and actionable steps:

  • Many questions in JEE (Main) are straightforward and fact-based, directly from the NCERT textbook. Hence, covering NCERT and its exemplar thoroughly is a must.

  • Chemistry is the fastest subject to complete in the exam, allowing extra time for Physics and Mathematics.

  • Avoid wasting time on overly difficult or irrelevant books. There is no need to memorise large textbooks if you cannot recall key facts during the exam.

A review of the chapter-wise distribution suggests that topics like Chemical Bonding and Molecular Structure, Biomolecules, Polymers, Aldehydes, Ketones and Carboxylic Acids, Equilibrium, and Coordination Compounds form the major part of the Chemistry section. Fewer questions are asked from Qualitative Analysis, General Principles and Processes of Isolation of Elements, and Surface Chemistry.

Mathematics

Mathematics is a key component of JEE (Main). Some students are naturally good at it, while others find it challenging. However, with a structured study plan, even an average student can master the subject.

  • Regular practice is essential. Attend classes diligently, listen to your teachers, revise daily, and supplement your learning with the NCERT textbook. Solve all practice exercises in the NCERT exemplar.

  • Understand derivations thoroughly. Ask yourself: Why is this formula needed? What steps lead to the conclusion? Where should this formula be applied? Analysing these aspects will enhance conceptual clarity.

  • Master problem-solving techniques. Many JEE questions require a combination of concepts. Identifying and interlinking these concepts will strengthen your skills.

  • Adopt a strategic approach during the exam. Start with easy questions, move to moderate ones, and attempt the difficult ones last. This method builds confidence and helps maintain a calm, analytical mindset.

  • Daily practice is crucial. Solve at least 20-25 problems per day to maintain consistency. Using a single, comprehensive resource with a large number of quality questions is more effective than multiple scattered sources.

An analysis of the chapter-wise weightage shows that 3D Geometry, Applications of Derivatives, Limits, Continuity and Differentiability, and Matrices and Determinants have a higher number of questions in JEE (Main). Students should observe these trends carefully to optimise their preparation.
