‘Taking one step at a time’- this has been an integral ingredient for Kushagra Gupta (18) to secure an All India Rank of 24, in JEE Mains 2025. Hailing from Bengaluru, Gupta is a student of Narayana Co Kaveri Bhavan, Kasavanahalli. He secured a 100 percentile in session 1 paper 1 with a score of 286. In session 2, he secured 99.93 percentile with a score of 251.
“I decided to attempt Session 2 despite not being fully prepared. The exam was challenging, particularly mathematics, where I struggled to complete the paper,” said Gupta.
The JEE Main 2025 results are declared on April 18. As many as 24 candidates score 100 NTA score in JEE Main paper 1 session 2. Of them, Rajasthan tops the list with seven candidates scoring 100 NTA scores. Maharashtra, Telangana, and Uttar Pradesh have three each 100 NTA score holders. West Bengal, Gujarat, and Delhi have two each, while Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh have one topper each from their states.

Gupta studies for nearly 12-13 hours a day. “I kept pushing myself and I always took one step at a time. The results definitely felt great. In fact, it was better than expected,” he said. He also attributes his success to the consistent examination practice at his institution. “At Narayana, we were tested very often. Everyday examinations at the institution helped me prepare better for JEE Mains. It gave me clarity on what to expect in the examination,” said Gupta.
He is eyeing a Computer Science engineering seat at IIT-Bombay or IIT-Madras. ” I am going to add another extra layer of preparation for JEE Advanced,” he says. On the cut-throat competition for seats at IITs, Gupta said, “Yes, I agree there is immense competition. There is a concern that I might be left behind in the race to the IITs. However, I am going to put all those concerns on the backburner now. My only focus is on improving myself and practising much harder than mains,” said Gupta whose father Amit Gupta, is working as a department head at Alstom Transport India Limited and his mother Madhumita Gupta is working as a senior scientist at Philips Healthcare.
