JEE Main 2025 Session 2 Overall Analysis: Difficulty level of BTech/ BE paper

The National Testing Agency (NTA) on April 8 concluded the paper 1 BE and BTech paper exams in the second session of the Joint Entrance Examination Main (JEE Main) 2025. According to students who appeared in JEE Main and as per feedback received from experts, questions in all the JEE Main 2025 session 2 shifts held between April 2 and 8 covered almost all chapters of Class 11 and 12 NCERT textbooks. 

JEE Main 2025 exam analysis 

The JEE Main 2025 for BTech and BE paper or Paper 1 comprised three subjects – physics, chemistry and mathematics and was held for 300 marks. 

The exam held on April 2 was considered moderate overall. The JEE Main April 2 paper was described as “balanced but lengthy.” Physics was moderately tricky, mathematics was lengthy and moderate, and chemistry was relatively easy. Shift 2 maintained a similar trend, with chemistry rated the easiest, physics moderate, and mathematics the most challenging.

The JEE Main BTech, BE paper held on the second day of the April 2025 session on April 3 in two sessions was considered ‘moderate to difficult’ according to most candidates who appeared for the exam. Most students found the Physics section moderate in the morning shift, chemistry section was rated easy to moderate and the mathematics section was moderate to difficult, with questions well-distributed across various topics. In the afternoon shift of the April 3 exam, physics was the easiest, mathematics was moderate, and chemistry ranged from moderate to difficult

The JEE Main April 4 exam was analysed as moderate. The morning session paper was moderate in overall difficulty. Among the three sections, physics and chemistry ranged from easy to moderate, while mathematics was the most challenging. The evening shift of April 4 was moderate in overall difficulty. It was well-structured and balanced, covering all chapters uniformly. Among the three sections, Physics and Chemistry ranged from easy to moderate, while Mathematics was the most challenging due to some lengthy, calculation-intensive questions.

In the April 7 JEE Main morning shift, mathematics was the most challenging section, chemistry was the most straightforward among the three sections and the physics section in the JEE Main 2025 ranged from easy to moderate difficulty. In the evening shift, the exam was moderate. Chemistry turned out to be easy in the second shift, physics had a mix of simple and moderately tough problems, while mathematics stood out as the toughest.

The JEE Main 2025 April 8 exam was held in only one shift. Chemistry emerged as the most easy section in the JEE Main April 8 evening shift, physics presented a blend of easy and moderately complex questions, while mathematics proved to be the most demanding.

Last year, the overall difficulty level in JEE Main was moderate to difficult. In 2024, the number of 100 percentilers had increased by 13 candidates in comparison to 2023 as a total of 56 candidates have received 100 NTA score in Paper 1 (BE/BTech).
