The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially begun the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2025 Session 2 today, 2 April 2025. With the exams set to continue until 9 April, thousands of aspirants across the country are putting their best foot forward in hopes of securing a top rank. JEE Main is not just another entrance test—it’s a gruelling challenge that demands a well-planned strategy, unwavering dedication, and smart preparation.

Among those who have successfully navigated this journey is Ananya, the top-performing female candidate from Uttar Pradesh in JEE Main Session 1. As thousands of students gear up for their exams, she shares her experience and insights on what it takes to crack one of India’s toughest exams.

“My Strategy Was Always To Build A Strong Foundation”

Ananya’s journey towards JEE excellence began in Class 11, where she focused on building a deep understanding of Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. “Rather than simply memorising concepts, I concentrated on understanding them thoroughly while practising a wide range of questions, from basic to advanced levels,” she explains.

She dedicated 9 to 10 hours per day to her studies, incorporating small breaks to stay refreshed. “Most of this time was spent revising class notes and completing homework assignments, while the rest was utilised for preparing for upcoming tests. Weekends were reserved for full-length mock tests and analysing my weaker areas,” she reveals.

For her preparation, Ananya relied on class notes and lectures for theory, supplementing them with NCERT books for Inorganic Chemistry. She also referred to standard textbooks such as Irodov for Physics, MS Chauhan for Organic Chemistry, Neeraj Kumar and N. Awasthi for Physical Chemistry, and the Black Book for Mathematics. In the last two months, she focused heavily on revision and solving numerous mock tests.

“Regular Practice Through Mock Tests Helped Me Manage Time Efficiently”

Managing time effectively was key during the exam. Ananya answered the questions in order, skipping the tough ones at first and returning to them later. “Regular practice through multiple mock tests helped me refine this strategy and manage my time efficiently during the actual exam,” she notes.

Mock tests and past papers were essential for preparation. “They helped me understand the exam pattern, recognise my strengths and weaknesses, and enhance my speed and accuracy. I attempted mock tests every weekend and increased the frequency as the exam date approached,” she shares.

For her JEE Main April 2025 attempt, Ananya is focusing on mock tests to refine her performance and minimise errors. “My primary focus after the January attempt has been JEE Advanced, and my goal is to attempt as many mock tests as possible,” she explains.
